2-7 Warnings and Indications
The DNV-5 gives visual information and warnings
without your having to look in the viewfinder of the
1 DIAG button
1 DIAG (diagnosis) button
When the DNV-5 is stopped, pressing this button
switches the DNV-5 to the self-diagnosis mode, in
which it is possible to carry out a display panel test, a
VTR test, or a camera test, and to display the test
results.
To end the self-diagnosis mode, press this button once
more.
Refer to the Maintenance Manual for more information.
Caution
Do not press the DIAG button when a remote control
unit is connected to the VTR REMOTE connector (6-
pin). Pressing the button with a remote control unit
connected will disturb both the self-diagnostic and
remote control functions. The only remedy for this
disturbance is to disconnect the remote control unit
and turn off the POWER switch.
2 Back tally indicator
This indicator functions exactly the same way as the
tally indicator on the viewfinder when the back tally
switch is set to ON.

3 Back tally switch
This switch turns the back tally indicator on and off.
4 LCD LIGHT switch
This switch turns the display panel illumination on and
off.
5 WARNING indicator
This indicator lights up or flashes when there is a fault
in the DNV-5.

more information about the relationships between the
operation of the indicator and the meanings of the
indications.
6 Display panel
Error messages, battery status, tape status, audio level,
time data, and so forth are displayed on this panel.
