Safety inspection
Safety Inspection
This chapter describes the safety inspection for the inverter described in this service man-
ual. This chapter was produced in accordance with "DIN VDE 0701-0702" and "ÖVE/
ÖNORM E8701-1".
Please also observe the requirements and standards for your particular country, since
there may be deviations in the measured values or inspection steps.
If there are no requirements and standards for your particular country, Fronius recom-
mends that this inspection is still carried out.
The safety inspection must only be conducted on a completely assembled device.
Responsibility
The repairs technician is responsible for the proper performance and documentation of the
safety inspection, and for the correct inspection result. Fronius accepts no liability.
If a defect is identified during the inspection, the safety inspection must be repeated once
the defect has been eliminated.
The following inspection steps must be carried out in the sequence specified. Every in-
spection must be passed before the next inspection can begin. If one of the inspections
cannot be carried out, the inspector must take the decision, and the responsibility and lia-
bility falls to him regarding whether the safety of the device can still be confirmed. This de-
cision must be justified accordingly and included in the inspection log under Notes.
Scope of Applica-
In principle, a "safety inspection" must be carried out after a repair/overhaul, change or ac-
tion
cording to standard requirements from the respective country.
Qualification of
The safety inspection may only be carried out by a qualified electrician. These are the peo-
the Inspection
ple who, on the basis of their technical training, knowledge, and experience as well as
Personnel
knowledge of the applicable regulations, can assess the assigned tasks and detect and
prevent electrical and other possible dangers.
Measuring Instru-
The following requirements for measuring instruments must be met as per DIN VDE 0701-
ments
0702 and ÖVE/ÖNORM E8701-1. Individual national requirements and standards must
also be observed.
Ground conductor resistance

Insulation Resistance

The measurement voltage may be an AC or a DC voltage.
The open circuit voltage may not exceed 24 V or fall below 4 V.
The measurement current within the measuring range between 0.2 and 1.99 may
not fall below 0.2 A.
The value of the measured voltage from the measuring instrument must correspond
to at least the rated voltage of the device to be tested against grounding, but no less
than 500 V DC voltage
The measurement current must be at least 1 mA (this corresponds to a load resis-
tance of 0.5 M).
