Observe during mission
Never start a mission alone!
If no external air supply is connected, use a protective cap
to close the control valve's connection on the outside of the
chemical protection suit. This protects the control valve
from contamination.
If no ASV is used, do not set the ventilation rate to more
than 30 l/min. If the pressure difference between the
compressed air hose and the medium pressure port of the
compressed air breathing apparatus is <2 bar, air can be
lost from the compressed air cylinder. A higher ventilation
rate increases this loss.
For very high work intensity with maximum inhalation
airflow, the pressure in the full-face mask can be negative.
3.3
After use
1. Release the external air supply from the control valve.
2. Take off the chemical protection suit
3. Clean the control valve (see chapter 4.2 on page 9).

Maintenance

4.1
Maintenance intervals
The specified intervals are Dräger recommendations. Differing
national guidelines have to be adhered to if need be.
Work to do
Visually inspect the control valve.
Clean the control valve
Replace O rings and seals
1
Only to be performed by trained service personnel

4.2
Cleaning the control valve
1. Remove the ventilation hoses on the T-piece from the
control valves.
2. Unroll the belt.
3. Dismantle the control valve from the chemical protection
suit:
Release the screws on the inside of the suit and remove
both halves of the control valve from the chemical
protection suit.
4. Remove large contaminations from the control valve using
a brush.
5. Thoroughly rinse the control valve with clean water and dry
it again.
6. Assemble the control valve on the chemical protection suit
(see chapter 4.3.2 on page 9).
7. Test the chemical protection suit for leaks
4.3
Assembling the control valve
4.3.1
Preparation for retrofitting a control valve
1. If the control valve is to be retrofitted, punch the hole in the
suit material:
The correct position of the hole is marked on the inside of
the chemical protection suit.
4.3.2
Assembly of control valve
Assemble the control valve on the chemical protection suit as
follows:
1. Inspect all parts visually. Replace any damaged parts.
2. Put the two 0 rings (2) on
the inner housing (4) and
place over the
reinforcement on the
inside of the suit.
3. For suits with vfdb-
approval
X
Place the cover flap on the
suit material.
4. Place the sealing washer
(3) and exterior housing
(1) on the outside of the
suit.
5. Put both housing halves together.
6. Place the O-Ring (5) on the hexagon socket screw (6).
7. Tighten the hexagon socket screw (5 mm) with a torque of
8 Nm.
CAUTION
!
Do not turn the housing halves against each other. The
suit material could be damaged by this and the leak
tightness of the suit impaired.
8. Test the chemical protection suit for leaks
5
Disposal
The control valve must be disposed of in accordance with the
applicable waste disposal regulations.
