Problem
Starter rope is not returning
Starter rope returns slowly
When pulling rope, engine turns only sometimes
or not at all
Engine does not start
Engine is not drawing fuel runs irregular
Engine has no power
Engine four-strokes, smokes heavily
Engine becomes too hot
Blower housing and fan wheel
Strong vibrations
Possible Causes
-Recoil spring broken,
-Rope pulley dirty
-Spring worn
-Dirt blocks rope pulley,
-Dirty rope pully bearing
-Pawl is dirty and does not engage in the fan
-Pawl is worn
-Template pin is deformed on template
-Recoil spring pre-tightened too much
-Start-up instructions not followed
-No spark
-Old fuel mixture in tank
-Tank vent blocked
-Fuel line defective
-Filter in fuel valve blocked
-Carburetor filter or nozzle blocked
-Vent hole of float chamber blocked
-Choke plate does not close tightly
-Air filter dirty or damaged
-Carburetor dirty
-Engine manifold or carburetor clamp not sealing properly (incorrect air supply)
-Fuel tank vent blocked
-Fuel supply insufficient
-Incorrect fuel-oil ratio
-Fuel valve obstructed (does not open)
-Engine takes in incorrect air, engine or filler pipe not sealed properly
-Piston rings or piston and cylinder lining worn out
-Float needle leaking
-Float needle hanging
-Choke remains closed
-Air filter dirty
-Incorrect fuel-oil ratio -(too much oil)
-Exit channel on cylinder or exhaust carbonized
-Cooling fins or cool air supply line dirty
-Spark plug has incorrect heat range
-Main nozzle too small (decreasing in size)
-Incorrect fuel-oil ratio -(too little oil)
-Engine manifold or carburetor clamp not sealing properly (incorrect air supply)
-Piston rings or piston and cylinder lining worn out
-Fan wheel imbalance due to deposits of chemicals or other debris
-Engine mounting bolts on blower housing loose
-Anti-vibe spring broken
-Anti-vibe spring bolts loose
Solution
-Install new recoil spring
-Disassemble starter and clean
-If possible, tighten by one rotation otherwise install new recoil spring
-Disassemble starter and clean
-Disassemble starter, clean starter shaft with solvent lubricate shaft with thin oil (HD-10)
-Clean starter pulley, pawl and fan wheel
-Install new pawl
-Install new pin or template
-With fully extended rope, pulley must be able to rotate 1/2 - one turn
-Follow start-up instructions for cold and warm start
-See ign. system - fault detection
-Refuel
-Check tank vent
-Replace fuel line
-Clean filter, check flow
-Clean carburetor, check flow
-Clean carburetor, check vent hole
-Check choke plate and replace if necessary
-Clean or replace air filter
-Diassemble carbureator
-Check sealing or re-seal
-Check tank vent
-Check flow-through in carburetor
-See Data
-Disassemble fuel valve and check
-Check for correct sealing and test compression
-Disassemble engine, replace parts if necessary
-Clean or replace float needle
-Check float level
-Open choke
-Clean air filter
-Use correct ratio- (See Technical Data)
-Clean exit channel and exhaust
-Clean cooling fins and cool air supply line
-Insert correct spark plug
-Install correct main nozzle
-Refuel with correct ratio- (See Technical Data)
-Check for sealing or reseal
-Disassemble engine and check, replace parts if necessary
-Dismantle fan wheel and clean
-Dismantle fan wheel and clean
-Check engine mounting bolts
-Replace defective parts
-Retighten bolts
