Installation and Operating Instructions
Compact Ventilation Units AIR1 XC
The ventilation units are equipped with multi-stage heat exchanger frost protection:
Stage 1
Activation and control of pre-heater as soon as the outside air temperature is lower than -4 °C and the exhaust air tem-
perature is lower than 0 °C. The pre-heater will also operate until an exhaust air temperature of + 4 °C is reached. If the
pre-heater runs with an output of 100 % for more than 3 minutes, frost protection stage 2 will activate.
Stage 2
Reduction of air volume flow up to 50 % (pressure reduction up to 25 %) after the pre-heater has been running with an
output of 100 % for more than 3 minutes. If the pre-heater runs with an output of 100 % for more than 5 minutes, frost
protection stage 3 and the final stage will activate.
Stage 3
Deactivation of the ventilation unit (close external dampers).
Ventilation unit restart
The automatic ventilation unit restart will only take place if either the outside air temperature is higher than -3 °C or the
exhaust air temperature is higher than +4 °C.
422 Warm water heating register frost protection
The optional warm water heating register has frost protection with the following functionality:
100 %
15
C
O
50 %

0 %
Activation of frost protection:
• Below +15 °C: The valve is opened by the frost protection sensor signal; the pump cycle is started.
• Below +7 °C: Ventilation is deactivated, the external dampers close and the valve is completely opened.
Deactivation of frost protection:
• Frost protection sensor temperature above +15 °C.
423 Filter monitoring
The dynamic filter monitoring is used to check the filter condition. This highest possible filter pressure loss is calculated
in relation to the selected filter type and the operating point. If the filter pressure loss is greater than the permitted pres-
sure loss at this operating point, the filter alarm will be triggered.
43 Priorities
If multiple ventilation modes are active at the same time, the ventilation unit will run at the respective ventilation stage
with the highest priority. This means that the external switch contact overrides all other ventilation stages.
Priority list (highest priority first):
• Fire/emergency contact
• External switch contact
• Manual operation with HMI or use of building control system (Bacnet, Modbus)
• External switch contact Intensive
• External switch contact Normal
• External switch contact Minimal
• External switch contact Recirculation
• Timer Intensive
• Timer Normal or Timer VOD with higher ventilation requirement
• Timer Minimal or Timer VOD with higher ventilation requirement
• Timer Recirculation or Timer VOD
• Free cooling (night cooling)
