The following points are pertinent to the ARTUS longevity:
• Do not expose the harness to large temperature fluctuations (e.g. in your car). During
longterm storage make sure there is plenty of ventilation and air circulation (to mini
mise condensation).
• After landing, pack the harness away quickly. This will avoid unnecessary exposure
to UV rays.
• If the ARTUS is damp or wet, dry it at room temperature either inside or outside in a
shady place. Please note: make sure you repack your parachute if it has become wet
or damp!
• If the harness comes into contact with salt water, it must be thoroughly cleaned with
fresh water, then dried properly and the parachute repacked if necessary.
• In the case of an incident (e.g. a hard scuff or an impact), ask a NOVA service partner
to examine it.
• Only use fresh water and a soft brush to clean the harness.
• Regularly check straps, seams and buckles. These must be undamaged.
• Regularly check the connection line to the reserve and its channel, in particular the
Velcro fastener should be loosened and closed again regularly (at least once a year).
• Regularly check the parachute deployment handle. Pay particular attention to the
yellow plastic rod.
• Please read your parachute manual and make note of the required repacking
intervals. If the parachute becomes too hot, is exposed to mechanical stress or
becomes damp/wet it should be immediately aired and repacked.
Checks
Every 24 months (two years) or every 150 hours, the harness must have a full inspection
by a NOVA service partner. During the service, the entire harness will be checked for
possible damage.
Repairs
Please do not attempt repairs on your harness. Repairs should only be performed by an
authorised service centre.
Replaceable parts
Fastenings using softlinks
Softlinks were used to attach various components (kangaroo pouch, pod straps, pod,
safety strap) to the ARTUS. For correct opening and closing, please follow the step
bystep instructions.
Replacing the pod
If the pod is damaged, it can be easily replaced with a new one. Please note that the
respective pod is not compatible with other sizes of the ARTUS. If you are unsure about
changing the pod, please contact a NOVA service partner.
To remove the pod, first detach the carabiners from the harness as described below.
Then remove the Antitwist Oring. Detach the Brummel hooks from the speed bar so
that you can pass the cord through the eyelet on the pod. Make sure that you also
remove your reserve parachute, as the front container is part of the pod. The fact that
the parachute does not have to be disconnected from the Vbridle makes it easier to
reinstall later. Now open the Vbridle channel up to the zip that connects the pod to the
harness. The safety strap is connected to a softlink on the left hang point. You have to
open this. Repeat these steps on the right side. Here too, a softlink secures the hang
points to the carabiners.
