Speed-bar
For precise acceleration, the ARTUS has a threestep speedbar that can be operated
without great force thanks to a smoothrunning pulley and three lowfriction rings.
Correct speed-bar installation
The well thoughtout routing of the speedbar in the harness ensures comfort
during accelerated flight and prevents damage to the fabric caused by friction. On the
following picture you can see the correct routing of the speedbar inside the harness.
Altogether this must run through four points. One of these is the eyelet
speedbar leaves the inside of the harness to the outside. The cord then runs through

the first low friction ring
, then through the pulley
through another low friction ring
not twisted with other parts of the harness. The speedbar must run underneath the

strap for the pod tensioning

When attaching the speedbar on the right
hand side, make sure that it is not wrap
ped around the Vbridle. This could lead to
problems in case of a parachute deployment.
The correct and incorrect way can be seen in
the illustration.
Stirrup and flying without the pod
The ARTUS is designed as a reclined harness and cannot be flown with a stirrup. We
also don't recommend flying it without the pod.
Connecting the harness to the wing
Once the harness is properly closed, you can connect it to your glider. Many NOVA
wings have coloured risers (red for left and green for right). This colourcoding is contin
ued on the harness. This will ensure that you don't hook in wrongly. Open the carabiners

by turning the light green plastic clip 90 degrees to the right. Attach the respective
riser to the carabiner and close them by turning the fastener back to its original
position. When the catch engages (audible click), the carabiner is fully closed.
Please note: the carabiners must be properly closed, otherwise their load capacity will
be reduced and the riser may slip out. Make sure that the metal shackle of the carabiner
is closed and that the light green plastic shackle is parallel to the carabiner.
