Caution:
Install and keep safe from the elements.
The dryer can only be moved on its pallet
base. Do not drag it or push it by the sides.
Check that the dryer can surmount every
existing obstacle, like staircases, doors,
etc.beforehand.
When it is in its service site, pull the card-
board off upwards and remove the base
pallet.
Then mount the four adjustable feet deliv-
ered in a bag inside the drum.
Align the appliance horizontally by the
reference of a spirit level resting on the sides
and front. Check that it does not rock: if it
does, level by the adjustable feet. Repeat
levelling if the dryer is moved. Between the
dryer and any other objects, leave such a
suitable clearance that may allow mainte-
nance and cleaning (50 cm recommended
by the manufacturer). These machines re-
quire neither basement nor floor anchoring.
For steam-heated machines, check that the
steam electric valve has been delivered in
the drum.
IMPORTANT!
The packaging materials (plastic bags, ex-
panded polystyrene, wood, cardboard, nails,
etc.) represent a safety hazard and conse-
quently must not be left within the reach of
children. Collect and keep for further trans-
portation or long-term storage. (see "Stor-
ing" paragraph). At any rate, as regards
packaging waste disposal, abide by the local
and national standards in force.
Before connecting the appliance, check that
the rating plate data correspond to those of
the electric, gas or steam systems it is going
to be plugged in). The dryer must be used
exclusively for the purposes it was expressly
designed for.
5. GETTING THE APPLIANCE
STARTED
5.1. POSITIONING REQUIREMENTS
The dryer can be installed beside other
appliances. It has no positioning require-
ment except for a level floor that can stand
the weight of 300kg/m2. It needs no base or
floor anchoring.To avoid electronic device-
damaging electrostatic discharge, do not
install the dryer on carpets or mats. Check
that the dryer does not rock and is perfectly
horizontal by the use of a spirit level and
correct levelneess by adjusting the rubber
feet if necessary. After moving it, repeat
levelling.
5.2. SPACE REQUIRED FOR INSTAL-
LATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE
The dryer must be granted the minimum
space indicated in figure 1.
figure 1
The automatic cut-off switch and gas/steam
and condensate taps must be near enough to
be reached and switched off/closed by the
operator in any emergency.
5.3. ALLOWABLE AMBIENT CONDI-
TIONS FOR PROPER SERVICE
(INFORMATION FOR THE USER)
- TYPE OF ROOM: CLOSED
- MINIMUM TEMPERATURE: 10°C
- MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE: 40°C
- RELATIVE HUMIDITY: 75% H.R.
- LIGHTING: 100 LUX (value valid for
Italy; given the variety of regulations re-
garding lighting in working premises, for
other national provisions consult the rel-
evant national codes).
5.4 ELECTRIC CONNECTION
The drier must only be connected up to the
power mains by personnel qualified in ac-
cordance with the national and local law
requirements. The manufacturer assumes
no responsibility for damage arising from
misconnection performed by unauthorised
personnel. On tumble-dryers models EMS10
and EMS15, remove the back panel by the
self-tapping screws, insert the power cord in
the cable clamp and connect to the terminal
block on the wiring plate as indicated on the
terminal block itself. On tumble-dryers
model EMS25, unscrew and remove the
upper back panel, insert the power cord into
the appropriate cable clamp on the middle
rear panel and connect to the terminal block
on the main switch. Ensure that the mains
voltage corresponds to the value appearing
on the dryer's the rating plate. The maxi-
mum allowable voltage variation from the
rating plate value is ±10% .
WARNING!
The dryer must be connected to an efficient
earthing system. To this purpose, on the
wiring plate (Dryers EM S10 - EM S15) or
near the main switch (Dryer EM S25) marked
with the earthing symbolther is a screw with
nut and washer that needs to be connected to
the earthing system. The earthing connec-
tion must comply with the applicable stan-
dards. The manufacturer assumes no re-
sponsibility for damage resulting from non-
18
observance of this accident prevention prin-
ciple.
The electrical connection must be carried
out using one of the recommended cables
(cfr. Table 1) or a higher type.
Upstream of the appliance there must be an
automatic omnipolar cut-off switch with
contact gaps no smaller than 3 mm, to trip
with current leaks > 30 mA and set accord-
ing to the maximum rated input (cfr. Table
2 and machine rating table).
Provide for a cable carrier duct between the
cut-off switch and the appliance's power
supply inlet; choose duct diameter accord-
ing to table 1.

Table 2
The machine must be supplied power
through a flexible cord complying with the
requirements in table 2. The power cord
must enter the machine through the ad-hoc
cable clamp.
Ensure that the cable is fire-proof and prop-
erly protected. When installing the dryer
ensure that the phases are properly con-
nected as follows:
1. Connect the three phases, the neutral and
earth wires to the terminal block (models
EMS10-15) or to the main cutoff switch on
board the appliance (model EMS25). The
earthing wire must be a few cm longer than
the others.
2. Turn on the wall main cutoff switch.
3. Turn on the main cutoff switch on the
back of the machine (only model EMS25).
4. Shut the door and start the machine (cfr.
Instructions for use).
5. Open the fluff filter cleaning lid (this will
trigger the "door open alarm" and the ma-
chine will stop).
