Annex: Installing the tank
connection where the
vehicle has been prepared
for an additional heater

A requirement for the installation described here is
that the vehicle manufacturer has prepared the chas-
sis for direct connection of an additional heater with
the help of a fuel line (5 mm outer diameter). When
ordering a vehicle, choose the respective option. This
is possible, for example, with a Fiat Ducato.
Additional tools required
Assembly pliers for single ear clamps
•
Sharp knife or hose cutter
•
Installing the tank connection kit
DANGER
Personal injury and material damage
Disregarding installation instructions or improp-
er installation can put people in danger and
cause damage to property.
Observe the installation instructions.
Installation and repairs must be carried out
by qualified experts.
DANGER
Risk of fire or explosion through ignition of
escaping fuel
Observe applicable national regulations for
handling fuel.
Wear personal protective equipment (e.g.
suitable protective gloves).
Avoid static charges, keep away from sourc-
es of ignition, do not smoke.
Ensure good ventilation.
Before starting work, disconnect the battery.
Catch any escaping fuel in a suitable
container.
It is recommended that work on the fuel tank
be carried out by a specialist workshop of the
vehicle manufacturer.

Before installing the tank connection kit
Open the tank lid to ventilate the tank.

Fasten the fuel line to the tank fitting and cut to
length (Fig. 45).
Insert the fuel line into the existing line coupling

on the tank (Fig. 45-1).
After inserting the fuel line, make sure that it sits
•
firmly.
Install the fuel line in the vehicle and cut to length.

Use a sharp knife to shorten the fuel line and do
•
not squash the hose (Fig. 46).
NOTICE
Insufficient flow in the fuel line due to in-
correct shortening
Use only a sharp knife to shorten the fuel
line.

All mechanical and electrical connections to the tank
fitting must be checked for tightness.
