chicks with special feed for fledglings, such as baby chick mash or suitable
granulated feed, grains etc. It is also recommended to feed the chicks with
quartz grit.
Also pay attention to lay the chicks on dry litter. Make sure the plumes of the
chicks are always dry. Suitable dry litter materials are wood shavings or
chopped straw.
After the first life week the temperature in the cage can be decreased by 1 to
2°C. Please note that, according to the ambient temperatures, the chicks will
need additional heat during the age of 8 to 12 weeks.

Cleaning

After the baby chicks have hatched, the breeding machine must be cleaned
thoroughly because plumes of fledglings create large amounts of dust.
Unplug from power mains!
Clean the housing with a moistened cloth. Finally disinfect the breeding
machine with suitable disinfectants. If you want to use the breeding machine
once more – after a long period of time – disinfect the machine once more.
Make sure all components are free from dust and dirt.
During breeding time disinfect the surrounding of the breeding machine
regularly – best, once a week, in order to avoid bacteria, fungi and virus that
brought with shoes into the room, cannot enter the breeding machine.
Never immerse the breeding machine in water and do not wash the machine
with high pressure cleaners. Do not use abrasive solvents or aggressive
chemicals for cleaning.
Store the breeding machine while not in use in a dry and dust free room,
preferable in the original packaging. Leave the breeding machine opened for
some time to enable humidity to evaporate.
