Mode 2: with external control
The dressing process is started via the „ Start dressing tool X" input.: The timer
activates the „ Dressing tool on X" output and the „ Dressing tool running X"
output to high status. Then, the robot will close the electrode gun and manages
the complete dressing.
The output „ Dressing tool on X" is active until the input „ Start dressing tool X"
gets low (0).
In that case, the outputs „ Dressing tool on X" and „ Dressing tool running X" will
be set low (0) again.
If an error occurs during tip dressing ("Motor protection trip", Emergency-Stop,
dressing tool activated for more than the maximum time, the dressing tool is
immediately stopped, a fault message is generated and output „ Error dressing
tool X" becomes high (1).
The output "Dressing tool finished message X" is not used in this mode.
7.1.9

Monitoring the Tip Dressing result

The weld timer monitors the tip dressing result on the basis of the heat value and
the current as follows, using the routine described below:
The user defines a welding program for tip dress monitoring. This program is then
used to perform the reference welds and the monitoring welds. In this program, a
schedule in "PHA" mode should be programmed for the second weld time without
stepping and without %I compensation. The electrode to be monitored must be
assigned to this program. In this program, the hold time must be at least 20ms,
and the "Weld Complete" contact output must not become high before the end of
the hold time. This is necessary in order to ensure that the output that indicates a
defective weld safely becomes high prior to "Weld Complete". The warning that is
generated from a "not OK" checking result will be reset by the start for the next
spot weld of the same electrode. For more information, refer to detailed
specification of "Monitoring the electrode dressing result".

7.1.10 Fault reset of electric motor-driven gun

A new parameter was introduced to modify the timer response to the two
commands
„ Fault reset with Weld Complete" and „ Fault Reset and reweld" when given by
a user interface (versus an input) as follows:
As a default, the timer will respond to the user interface commands in the same
way as to the corresponding input. The faults are reset, and the corresponding
activity (set Weld Complete contact or reweld) is immediately carried out.
If the corresponding mode has been activated, the timer will not reset the fault
within the timer as a response to the two commands from the user interface, but
will only set the output „ Fault reset and reweld ELMO" or the output „ Fault
reset with Weld Complete ELMO".
These outputs will return to 0 when one of the inputs „Fault reset", "Reset
fault with Weld complete" or "Reset fault and reweld" is activated.
