 Maintain the crane cables or chains and check for damage
 Check that crane cables or chains can support the tension load

Set up the crane securely

Before fastening the load: Calculate the weight and centre of gravity (do

not use overload protection as a weighing scale)
 After the overload protection has responded: Ensure that the load is not
lifted when retracting the boom
If the crane driver does not have a clear view of the load: Appoint someone

to guide the driver by providing agreed hand signals or communicating by
radio
Manually fastened loads: Only lift following a hand signal

Long loads which could become caught during transport: Transport loads

with guide cables
 Do not pull loads at an angle. Do not permit loads to swing
 Do not use the crane to pull away fixed loads
 Do not carry any persons together with the load or the load lifting
equipment
Mark out the danger zone of the crane

Do not leave loads hanging on an unattended crane

Do not transport loads above persons' heads


Responsibilities of the industrial truck driver

The driver of the industrial truck is responsible for complying with the
following points:
Check
Stop transport in the following cases:

– Case 1: The load cannot be securely held and safely removed due to the
influence of the wind.
– Case 2: Faults that pose a risk to operational safety occur.
Test all emergency limit switches and brakes before transport

Check that there are no faults in the industrial truck

Set fork tines used for lifting to the same height

Tension lifting chains evenly

Use existing retention systems

Safety
Load the industrial truck in such a way that the driver has a clear view of

the road
 Do not overload the industrial truck
Load the industrial truck in such a way that loads cannot fall off or shift

If the driver cannot see the road and/or the load clearly: Appoint someone

to guide the driver by providing agreed hand signals or communicating by
radio
Only drive the industrial truck with the lift mast turned to the rear

Carry the load facing the gradient when travelling on slopes and inclines

Only load or unload vehicles with the industrial truck if they have been

secured against rolling and tilting
