Safety information

Damage resulting from non-observance of these operating instruc-
tions renders void any claim under the guarantee! We accept no
liability for consequential damage resulting from this.
We accept no responsibility for damage to property or injury to per-
sons caused by improper operation or failure to observe the safety
instructions. Such cases void the guarantee.
• This unit is constructed and tested in accordance with DIN
57411 1 part 0411/VDE 1 part 1010, safety precautions for elec-
tronic measuring devices or IEC 1-1 and left the factory in sound,
technically-safe condition. To maintain this condition and to en-
sure safe operation, it is essential for the user to observe the sa-
fety instructions and warning notes contained in these operating
instructions. The following symbols must be observed:
= Attention! Voltages dangerous when touched! Danger to
life
= Read the operating instructions
CAT III = Overvoltage category III
= Protection class II (double-insulated)
• The measuring instrument may be used in Overvoltage Category
III (3) installations in accordance with IEC 664, provided that the
voltage in the circuit being measured does not exceed 300 VAC
rms. The measuring instrument may be used in Overvoltage Ca-
tegory II (2) installations in accordance with IEC 664, provided
that die voltage in the circuit being measured does not exceed
600 VAC rms.

• Measuring instruments and accessories are not toys and do not
belong in the hands of children !
• In commercial facilities the accident-prevention regulations of
the industrial employers' liability association for electrical sy-
stems and equipment must be observed.
• In schools, training facilities, hobby and self-help workshops, the
handling of measuring instruments must be supervised responsi-
bly by trained personnel.
• Except where this can be performed manually, live parts may be
exposed when opening covers or removing components.
Connection points may also be live. Before any adjustment,
maintenance, repair or exchange of parts or assemblies requiring
opening of the unit, the unit must be disconnected from all volta-
ge sources and measurement circuits. If adjustment, maintenan-
ce or repair is subsequently required on the opened unit while it
is live, these must only be performed by a specialist familiar with
the associated hazards and relevant regulations (VDE-0100,
VDE-0701, VDE-0683).
• Capacitors in the unit may remain charged even when the unit
has been isolated from all voltage sources and circuits.
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages greater than 25
VAC or greater than 35 VDC. Even at these voltages a lethal elec-
tric shock can be received if electrical conductors are touched.
• Therefore, first of all switch off the power to the current source,
connect the measuring instrument to the current source points to
be measured, set the required current measuring range on the
measuring instrument and then switch the current source on. Af-
ter completion of the measurement, switch off the current source
and remove the current jaw from the current source.
