7. Maintenance instructions for the
user
7.1. Cleaning and disinfection
Cleaning
Make sure that the electric wheelchair is switched off before you start
cleaning.
•
The frame parts and casings can be wiped with a damp cloth.
If there is heavy contamination, you can use a mild household
cleaner.
•
The wheels can be cleaned with a damp brush with plastic bristles
(do not use a wire brush!).
•
You can clean dust and minor contamination from your seat, back-
rest and armrests with a damp cloth. Do not use any aggressive
cleaners as these could damage the surface of the material. The
upholstery can be washed with 40 °C warm water.
•
Make sure that electrical or electronic components do not come
into contact with water!
Disinfection
Before disinfection clean the foldable electric wheelchair thoroughly in
accordance with the instructions:
•
Only use disinfectants approved by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)
and by the Association for Applied Hygiene (Verbund für Ange-
wandte Hygiene e.V.).(e.g. Bacillol AF or Kohrsolin FF); see manu-
facturer's recommendations for concentration.
•
Spray the upholstery/pads and handles as appropriate.
•
Leave the cleaner to work in accordance with the manufacturer's
specifications, before you wipe it off.
When doing this, make sure that the electrics and electronics do not
come into contact with liquid.

7.2. Check Before Use
7.2.1. Checking the brakes
Make sure the brake system is functioning properly before each use.
•
Start up carefully and then allow the driving lever to come back to
its initial position. The electric wheelchair must come to a halt as
usual (see Chapter 2.5).
•
When stationary, the electromechanical brake must be locked in
place with an audible click. Notify your dealer of defects immedi-
ately and discontinue use of the electric wheelchair!
•
The motor brake is working properly if you cannot push the electric
wheelchair when it is switched off. However if it is possible to do
this, the electromagnetic brake is defective. In this case, you must
stop using the electric wheelchair. Contact your dealer immediately.
7.2.2. Checking the lighting,
indicators and horn
Before setting off each time, check that the horn works properly.
•
If, after pressing the appropriate button on the control panel, there
is no response, notify your dealer immediately and take the electric
wheelchair out of use.
