3.2
Disassembling the actuator head
Important:
After disassembly, clean all parts
of contamination (do not damage
parts). Check parts for potential
damage, replace if necessary (only
use genuine parts from GEMÜ).
1.
Move the actuator A to the open
position.
2.
Undo the screws in the coupling 8 and
remove them along with the half shells.
3.
Undo the union nuts 7 and pull off the
actuator A from the valve body 1.
3.3
Removing the gland packing
1.
Remove the actuator A as described in
chapter 3.2, points 1-3.
2.
Undo the nuts a on the actuator
fl ange 10 and remove them.
3.
Remove the actuator fl ange 10,
including the valve spindle 5, from the
valve body 1.
4.
Undo and remove the union nut 9.
5.
Carefully pull the valve spindle 5
downwards and out of the actuator
fl ange 10.
6.
Remove the individual components of
the gland packing upwards and out of
the actuator fl ange 10.
7.
Remove the wiper ring 14 (not on
K-no. 2012, 2023 or 2024) from
the bottom and out of the actuator
fl ange 10.
3.4
Installing the new gland
packing
1.
Check the seat seal 6 for potential
damage, and replace it if necessary
(see chapter 5 ("Installing/removing the
seat seal")).
2.
Remove the gasket 43 and replace it
(see chapter 5.2 ("Disassembling the
actuator head)).
3.
Each of the individual packing elements
must be greased with a suitable
lubricant* prior to installation (not on
K-no. 2012, 2023 or 2024).
* GEMÜ recommends "Dow Corning
Molykote
111 Compound" grease.
®
4.
Insert the new wiper ring 14 from below
into the indentation provided in the
actuator fl ange 10 (not on K-no. 2012,
2023 or 2024).
5.
Insert the O-Ring 21 into the indentation
provided in the guide bush 22 (not on
K-no. 2012, 2023 or 2024).
6.
Place the packing elements 16 - 25
or 18 - 25 from above into the actuator
fl ange 10 in the specifi ed order.
7.
Place the union nut 9 onto the central
thread of the actuator fl ange 10 and
tighten it just enough to hold the shape
of the gland packing.
8.
Check that the valve spindle 5 is free of
burrs and, if necessary, rework (polish)
it or replace it and carefully push it from
below, whilst simultaneously rotating it,
up through the gland packing and into
the actuator fl ange 10 as far as it will go.
9.
Carefully fi t the actuator fl ange 10,
including the valve spindle 5, to the
valve body 1.
10. Screw in all hexagon nuts a hand
tight and tighten diagonally with an
appropriate tool.
3.5
Assembling the actuator head
1.
Fit both pillars of the actuator A into the
actuator fl ange 10 and tighten the union
nuts 7 (pay attention to the position of
the control medium connectors).
2.
Connect actuator spindle 3 to valve
spindle 5 by means of coupling 8.
3.
Move the actuator A to the closed
position.
4.
With the valve fully assembled, check
that it is functioning correctly and that it
is leak-tight.
5.
If the gland packing is leaking, tighten
the union nut 9 further.
