"Fall arrest harness": Body harness designed
to arrest falls. It consists of straps and buckles.
It features fall-arrest attachment points marked
with an A if they can be used alone, or marked
with A/2 if they are to be used in combination
with another A/2 point. This is EN 361 compliant.
"Fall arrest anchoring device": A set of ele-
ments that includes an anchor point that may
include one or more structural fasteners, which
is intended to be used as part of a fall arrest
system.
"Maximum working load": Maximum weight
of the operator, equipped with his PPE, work
clothes, tools and components required for his
work.
"Fall arrest system": Set composed of the fol-
lowing items:
– Fall arrest harness.
– Self-retracting fall-arrester, or energy
shock absorber, or mobile fall prevention
device with rigid anchoring supports, or
mobile fall prevention device with flexible
anchoring supports.
– Anchoring point
– Linking component.
"Fall arrest system component": Generic term
defining one of the following:
– Fall arrest harness.
– Self-retracting fall-arrester, or energy
shock absorber, or mobile fall prevention
device with rigid anchoring supports, or
mobile fall prevention device with flexible
anchoring supports.
– Anchoring point
– Linking component.

DANGER: Placed at the beginning of a
paragraph, refers to instructions to avoid
injury to persons, including death, serious
or minor injuries, and damage to the envi-
ronment.
IMPORTANT: Placed at the beginning of a
paragraph, refers to instructions for avoiding
a failure or damage to equipment, but those
not directly endangering the life or health of
the operator or that of others, and/or not
likely to cause environmental damage.
NOTE: Placed at the beginning of a par-

3. Operation
Pre-use check (Figure 3):
Before each use, check that the anchoring de-
vice is in good visible condition, free of marks,
shocks or deformation. Otherwise do not use it
and alert the supervisor.
• Check that the connector of the fall arrest sys-
tem is compatible with the diameter (fig. 4, ref.
E) of the anchoring ring (fig. 1, ref. 4) and that
the opening of the connector is compatible with
the hanging section (fig. 3, ref. G) of the an-
choring point.
• Check that the 150Kg Tracrod anchor rod is
locked in the Tracrod anchor base (fig. 3 ref. 5)
and cannot be disassembled without using the
unlocking actuator (fig. 1, ref. 2).
"PPE": It is essential for the operator's
safety that the connector is properly locked as
soon as it is connected to the anchoring device.
After installation, check that the connector(s) of
the fall arrest system(s) align freely in the
possible direction of the operator's fall without
risk of jamming or interference with the body of
the anchoring device (fig. 1, ref. 1) and on the
Tracrod anchor base 150Kg (fig. 3).
• Check the condition of all components of the
associated fall arrest system. Refer to the spe-
cific instructions for each component.
