5.3. USING ON SLOPES
IMPORTANT The machine must not be used on slopes
above 10°, regardless of the mowing direction.
IMPORTANT Reduce speed on slopes and in tight bends to
avoid tipping over or losing control of the machine.
5.4. STARTING AND OPERATION
• Start-up
1. Check that the power take-off is deactivated (7:D).
2. Do not keep the foot on the service/traction brake pedal
(6:G).
If cold starting:
3. Engage the transmission; push lever in (8:A).
4. Activate the parking brake (6:D).
5. Close the air (if available) (6:I).
6. Turn the key in the ignition (6:L) and start the engine.
7. When the engine is running, gradually move the throttle
(6:I) to maximum speed.
If hot starting:
8. Engage the transmission by pushing in the lever (8:A).
9. Activate the parking brake (6:D).
10. Turn the control to full on (6:I)
11. Turn the key in the ignition (6:L) and start the engine.
NOTE If there are engine starting problems, do not persist
as you can risk running the battery flat and flooding the engine.
Turn the key to the Off position, wait for a few seconds and then
repeat the operation. If the malfunction persists, refer to the en-
gine owner's manual and chapter 8 in this manual.
• Ready
1. Depress the pedal fully (6:D) and release it.
2. Actuate the pedal (6:G) to make the machine move.
3. Go to the work area.
4. If front attachments have been fitted, activate the power
take-off (7:D)
5. Start working.
5.5. STOP
To stop the machine:
1. Deactivate the power take-off (7:D)
2. Engage the hand brake (6:D).
3. Switch off the engine by turning the key.
The engine may be very warm immediately after
it is shut off. Do not touch the exhaust or adjacent
parts. This can cause burn injuries.
5.6. AFTER USE
• Allow the engine to cool before storing in an enclosed space.

6. MAINTENANCE
The safety regulations to be followed are described in chapter
1. Strictly comply with these instructions to avoid serious
risks or hazards:

• Shift into neutral.
• Engage the parking brake.
• Stop the engine.
• Make sure that any moving component has stopped.
• Remove the ignition key.
• Use suitable clothing, protective gloves and goggles.
IMPORTANT Never leave the key inserted or within reach of
children or unauthorized people.
6.1. REFUELLING
For tank capacity see "0 TABLE OF TECHNICAL

IMPORTANT Use only unleaded petrol. Do not mix petrol
with oil.
IMPORTANT Do not drip petrol onto the plastic parts to
avoid ruining them. In the event of accidental leaks, rinse im-
mediately with water. The warranty does not cover for damage
to plastic parts of the bodywork or the engine caused by petrol.
6.2. CHECK AND TOP-UP ENGINE OIL
NOTE For the oil type to be used, see "0 TECHNICAL DATA
TABLE".
IMPORTANT Observe the precautions provided in the en-
gine owner's manual.
1. Open the cover(11:B). Clean around the dipstick. Unscrew
2. Insert the rod completely and screw it in position.
3. Unscrew and remove the rod again. Check the oil level.
4. If the level is low, top up to the "FULL" mark (12).
