Templates for definition of transducer type
You must define the physical measurement quantity and unit when creating the template.
The available units are defined for the respective quantity in the IEEE standard, and can
not be changed once the template has been created. For example, these are the units N,
kp and lb for Force, and psi and Pa (but not bar) for Pressure. This means there are some
changes you cannot make subsequently without recreating a completely new basic tem
plate. For example, the unit psi cannot be changed to Pa, and vice versa, in any other
way. HBM offers a special template for converting units, such as psi to bar; see section
6.3, page 27ff., HBM Unit Conversion template.
When creating a template, you must also choose between the "Full precision" and "mV/V"
or "uV/V" variants for the resolution of the transducer characteristic curve stored in
TEDS. HBM always opts for "Full precision" here, in order to be able to use full digital res
olution. We also recommend this if you are programming the TEDS module yourself.
