1. General notes on use and safety

The following Operating/Assembly Instructions were written with
great care. We do not accept any liability for the correctness and
completeness of the data, illustrations and sketches, insofar as these
are not legally prescribed.
  S ubject to technical alterations in the course of continuous product
improvement at any time without notice!
CAUTION
This motor-driven BOXSPRING bed can be used by children from
the age of 8 and above as well as by persons with reduced physical,
sensorial or mental abilities or a lack of experience and knowledge,
if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the
motor-driven BOXSPRING bed and any dangers which may result
therefrom. Children must not play with the motor-driven adjustment
features of the BOXSPRING bed. Cleaning and user maintenance
must not be carried out by children without supervision.
WARNING
The electric drive used is only meant for use in electrical motor-driven
adjustable beds in the home.
The drive in your motor-driven BOXSPRING bed must not be used
• with a medical product or integrated in a medical product,
• in an environment in which flammable or explosive gases or
• vapours (e.g. from anaesthetics) may be present,
• in a moist environment,
• in the open air,
• in units which are cleaned in washing plants,
• for raising and lowering loads in a technical or industrial
environment,
• in aeroplanes or other forms of air transport
• in nuclear power stations
The drive is removed and used in a different product or with
another function at the user's own risk!
WARNING
Work on mains connections and exchanging such connections may
only be carried out by personnel with the following qualifications:
• personnel who are fully qualified in the field as electrical fitters or
• personnel with a similar qualification or
• personnel who have successfully take part in special training
courses (e.g. carried out by the manufacturers of the drives).
In order to avoid any danger only carry out work on the mains
connections if you have such a qualification, otherwise assign the
work to persons with the corresponding training or qualifications.

In this way you will prevent - as a result of errors in
assembly or in connecting
• danger of injury and accident and
• damage to the drive system or the end product
CAUTION
The repositioning function, which works without electricity, is not a
safety system in the sense of preventing danger.
CAUTION
Troubleshooting and problem solving may only be carried out by a
qualified person who is qualified as an electrical machine fitter or has
a similar qualification.
CAUTION
Only use spare parts which are intended for the corresponding
purpose by the manufacturer of the drives (see identification plate) or
are permitted by hülsta.
Only such parts guarantee the required level of safety.
The level of safety achievable by a motor-driven BOXSPRING unit is
directly linked to its proper use. Classically speaking, a BOXSPRING
unit is a bed. The comfort of a hülsta BOXSPRING surface is also
available in the form of a special unit for fitting in an existing bed,
but without a motor. hülsta BOXSPRING units have been developed
for normal private household use and for combining with a suitable
mattresses. Its primary intended use is for sleeping on, with the
possibility of sitting comfortably in bed and/or taking up a different lying
position with the aid of the normal motor-driven adjustment device of
the BOXSPRING unit. If the motor-driven BOXSPRING unit is to be
used in the care of old, weak or sick persons, this is only permissible
on the express permission of the dealer or hülsta for reasons of
liability. A hülsta BOXSPRING unit is not a medical or care product
(
see warning note p. 20). In order to avoid injury or damage, no
persons or objects should be in the immediate vicinity of the adjustable
sections of a motor-driven BOXSPRING during use. The motor-driven
BOXSPRING is not a toy!
Do not put the hand switch/transmitter in the hands of children!
(
see note p. 20) The suitability of a mattress together with the special
motor-driven adjustments of the BOXSPRING must be checked and
ensured. Regarding the maximum weight load of a BOXSPRING unit,
reliable limits ascertained in the relevant norm safety tests for normal
single standard sizes (80, 90, 100, 120, 140 cm width) only exist for
persons up to 140 kg in weight. Claims on the guarantee can only
be settled on consultation with hülsta in the case of loads exceeding
this limit. Excessive loads placed on the adjustable sections (angled
