8. Measurement mode

Never exceed the maximum permitted input values. Never touch circuits or parts of circuits when
they may contain voltages greater than 33 V ACrms or 70 VDC! Danger of death!
Before measuring, check the connected test leads for damage, such as cuts, tears and kinks. Defec-
tive test leads must no longer be used. Danger of death!
When taking measurements, do not touch any area beyond the grip markings on the probe tips.
Only connect the test leads that you require to take measurements. For safety reasons, remove all
unnecessary test leads from the device before taking a measurement.
Measurements in electrical circuits >33 V/AC and >70 V/DC must only be carried out by specialists
and technically instructed personnel who are familiar with the relevant regulations and the ensuing
risks.

a) Preparing for measurement

• Operate and store the device only under the specified storage and operating temperature conditions. Do not
expose the device to permanent sunlight.
• Check the rated voltage and rated current information provided on the safety test leads.
• Strong sources of interference in the vicinity of the GT-6000 can lead to unstable measured values and measure-
ment errors.
Before starting the test, always check the device, the leads and the test object for damage.
Ensure that the maximum switching capacity/lamp load of the test socket on the GT-6000 is not ex-
ceeded (see Technical data). Exceeding the values can cause the fuses to trip and lead to damage
to the GT-6000. Damage caused by overload is excluded from possible warranty claims.
• Before starting the test, switch the test object on (power switch to on).
• If the GT-6000 is connected to the mains voltage, the test object is supplied with mains voltage during the protec-
tive conductor/contact current measurement.
• Check the test object for correct function during the measurement.
• Ensure that the selected test method (protection class 1 or protection class 2) corresponds to the protection class
of the connected test object.
Prior to working with the device, you must insert the enclosed batteries. For more information on
inserting/replacing the batteries, see "Cleaning and maintenance".
