Troubleshooting
Before sending the appliance to Royal Appliance Customer Services, use the following table to
check whether you can correct the problem yourself.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Before starting to troubleshoot, switch the appliance off and pull out the mains
plug. Never use a defective appliance.

Possible cause
Solution
Switch the appliance off and pull the plug
out of the socket.
Eliminate the cause of overheating (e. g.
blocked suction channels, filters, etc.).
Wait for about 45 minutes. After the appli-
ance has cooled off, you may switch it on
again.
Empty/clean the dust container.
Close the bypass vent (Fig. 1/3).
Select the right brush/nozzle for the type of
floor you want to clean, Zchapter 2.3, "Us-
ing other nozzles (accessories)".
Set the "carpet/hard floor" selector to the
correct position for the type of floor,
Zchapter 3.2, "Vacuum cleaning", step4
you want to clean.
Clean the respective filter Zchapter 4.4,
"Cleaning the motor protection filter" or
Zchapter 4.5, "Cleaning the hygienic ex-
haust filter".
Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a
long wooden stick (e. g. a broomstick) to do
this.
Refit the filter cover of the motor protection
filter as shown under Zchapter 4.4, "Clean-
ing the motor protection filter" (Fig. 30) so
that the edges of the filter cover and the fil-
ter bracket are exactly flush. Only press
down the latch of the filter cover after the
preceding step has been executed.
