Problem
The grinder motor is agita-
ting, but there is no coffee
powder given off.
The grinder stops unex-
pectedly and cannot be star-
ted again.
The appliance does not
reach the extraction tem-
perature. The standby indi-
cator above the control dial
flashes.
Water or steam escape from
the steam wand, although
no function is running.
Possible Reason
The bean hopper is empty. Fill a sufficient amount of coffee beans into the bean
Coffee beans are wedged
together within the bean
hopper or grinder intake.
The grinder is clogged.
Perhaps, you filled pre-
ground coffee into the
bean hopper.
You ground large amounts
without breaks. The over-
heat protection of the grin-
der is active.
The control dial is turned
to the hot water function
or steam function.
The appliance heats up
the water system.
You are using an unsuited
type of water.
The steam function has
been activated recently.
The water system is still
on steam temperature.
The control dial is swit-
ched to the hot water or
steam function still.
Excessive deposits of lime
in the water system.
The Easy Solution
hopper.
Switch off the grinder. Use a wooden spoon for stirring
the coffee beans within the bean hopper. Then try again.
If this is not successful, turn the bean hopper counter-
clockwise to the stop and back to the required grind size
setting.
Disassemble the grinder and remove any obstacles and
lumps of coffee powder (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
Wait approx. 10 minutes. Then try again. After each 3
minutes of contiuous operation, make a break of approx.
6 minutes.
Turn the control dial to the central standby position. Then,
wait until the function icons illuminate.
This is normal.
Only use fresh tap water or non-carbonated, low-mineral
table water.
Wait until the water system is cooled down to extraction
temperature.
Turn the control dial to the central, vertical standby posi-
tion.
Descale the appliance in time to avoid damage (see:
'Descaling the Water System').
