6 Fabricating a check socket with the Varos test set
The Varos test set is used to determine the suitability of a patient for a fitting with the 5A60=*
Varos.
The Varos test set is a collection of various shell and side rail assemblies of different sizes.
A trial fitting with a Varos check socket has to be carried out to determine the suitability of the
potential user.
The check socket can be fabricated in a few steps using the Varos test set. With the check sock­
et, the fit, pressure distribution in the socket, handling and gait pattern can be observed. The
application of a check socket with various socket lengths is recommended.
None of the components are permanently modified (e.g. shortened) at the time of applying the
check socket.
6.1 Design
