a
For all users to communicate with one another, these setting be the same on all users.
b
Device addressing is specified in the Modbus standard. The broadcast address must not
be used as a slave address. It is intended for broadcast messages.
c
Unicast addresses are intended for use as slave addresses. They are used to specify
the slave devices uniquely so that the master can communicate with them explicitly.
d
In the standard Modbus, the address range 248 to 254 is reserved for future use. In the
device, these addresses can be used as slave addresses.
Settings for Ethernet interface
A patch/crossover cable with an RJ45 connector is required to use the Ethernet interface.
The Ethernet interface can be configured directly on the device or with the aid of the
Versatronic PC setup program.
The following protocols can be used for communication over Ethernet:
n
Modbus/TCP for communication with Modbus masters over Ethernet
n
Communication with the PC setup program via the HTTP protocol
n
E-mail sent using the SMTP protocol
DHCP and DNS are also supported. It is possible to obtain the IP configuration
automatically via DHCP.
If necessary, the IP configuration can also be set up manually.
Configuring interfaces
Description
Communication protocol
Modbus Slave: For operation of the device as a slave in a
Modbus system
Modbus digital sensors: For the operation of Versatronic
sensors with digiLine electronics at the serial
interface (see order details: extra code "Versatronic
digiLine protocol activated")
The Versatronic can be configured either via the interface
on the base unit or the optional serial interface (if present)
for digital sensors (digiLine operation).
Simultaneous use of both interfaces for digiLine operation
is not possible.
Transmission speed (symbol rate) of the serial interface
When connecting digital sensors from the product groups
2026xx, the baud rate must be set to 9600 baud prior to
startup.
Otherwise, the sensors will not begin operation.

a
Information bit - stop bit - parity
Minimum time from receipt of a query to sending of a
response.
This parameter is used to adjust the response speed of the
device to slower bus users.
