Notes on control unit diagnosis
KTS Truck is supplied with power by way of either the
adapter cable with battery clips provided, the connec-
ting cable for the cigarette lighter socket or the OBD
interface in the vehicle.

On some vehicles, the ignition must be switched on
for power to be supplied via the OBD interface.
Connection to the diagnostic connector in the vehicle is
made by using one of the following options:

The OBD diagnostic cable (fig.3, item 4)
R
OBD diagnostic cable together with vehicle-specific
adapter cable (fig. 3, item 3) (special accessory)
R
Universal adapter cable (fig. 3, item 5).

Make sure the OBD connection cable is properly
connected to the KTS Truck. Incorrect connection
could cause the pins of the plug to bend or break
off. Only use the OBD diagnostic cable contained in
the scope of delivery!

Updating ESI[tronic] 2.0
Updating is performed as described in sec. 4.1.

On updating, the data (e.g. licensing, user settings,
vehicles selected) are not deleted.

Troubleshooting

Refer to the notes in Sections 2.4, 3.4.3 and 3.6.2 in
the event of transmission problems during control
unit diagnosis.

The KTS Truck Service Tool is also copied to the
system during every ESI[tronic] installation with the
"Truck" ESI[tronic] info type. Following successful
installation, the software is located at:
[C:]\Program Files (x86)\Bosch\ESItronic 2.0\ESIt-
ronic\truckax\Service Tool

With the KTS Truck Service Tool, users can check
and correct basic problems on their own. Trouble-
shooting of the most common problems is presen-
ted on the home page of the software. Access to this
troubleshooting does not require a password.

Diagnostic hardware not found
No diagnostic hardware (KTS Truck) was found on esta-
blishing communication with the control unit. The fault

No communication with control unit
During control unit diagnosis the following error mes-
sage appears:
ECU communication problem.
Check electrical connection between vehic-
le and diagnostic unit.
Possible causes
OBD diagnostic cable or
adapter cable not properly
connected.

What to do
Check whether KTS Truck is being sup-
plied with external power (OBD diag-
nostic cable, adapter cable with battery
terminals, connecting cable for cigarette
lighter socket).
LED B on KTS Truck must flash green.
1. Check whether the correct type of con-
nection has been selected in the main
menu under "KTS module".
2. Then KTS Truck <Test connection>.

1. Reduce distance between Bluetooth
USB adapter and KTS Truck.
2. If the Bluetooth USB adapter is to be
connected to different PCs/laptop USB
ports, the Bluetooth driver must be ins-
talled on each USB port.
3. Test the connection in the main menu
under "KTS module".
4. Check the Bluetooth driver setting if
the Bluetooth connection is not OK on
testing.
5. Unplug the Bluetooth USB adapter and
plug it in again or re-boot the PC/lap-
top.

2. Re-start control unit diagnosis.
What to do
Check for proper connection of
