1.6 Safety
This section provides an overview of all important safety aspects for optimum protection of the personnel as
well as for safe and trouble-free operation. Non-compliance with the instructions for action and safety informa-
tion provided in these operating instructions can lead to considerable hazards.
1.7 Intended use
This device is designed, constructed and to be used exclusively for the intended use described below:
The battery charger BLG 12/24 V – 120 A is used exclusively for charging rechargeable 12 or 24 V
wet-cellbatteries(alsolead-calciumandEFB),aswellasmaintenance-freeAGM,gel,andLi-ionbattery
packswithinitsspecificationsandapplicationlimits(→alsoseechapter7"Technicaldata").Do not
connect non-rechargeable batteries or primary cells!
Intended use also includes compliance with all information in these operating instructions. Any use of the device
beyond its intended use or in any other manner is considered misuse and can lead to dangerous situations.
This charger is intended for use in industrial areas and may cause radio interference in
residential homes.

1.8 Responsibility of the operator
1.8.1 General duties
The device is used in the commercial sector. The operator of the device is therefore subject to the legal obliga-
tions with regard to occupational safety.
In addition to the safety instructions in these operating instructions, the safety, accident prevention and environ-
mental protection regulations valid for the device's area of application must be observed.
The following applies in particular:
• T heoperatormustinformhimselfabouttheapplicableoccupationalhealthandsafetyregulationsand
determine additional hazards in the scope of a risk assessment which result from the special working condi-
tions at the device's place of use. He must implement these in the form of operating instructions for the
device's operation.
• D uringtheentireservicelifeofthedevice,theoperatormustcheckwhethertheoperatinginstructionsdrawn
up by him correspond to the current state of the regulations and adapt them if necessary.
