WARNING: The operating pressure of the tyre changer and PT must be between 8 and 10 bar. If it is below this
value and the procedures are not carried out carefully, the rim could slip on the turntable.
To resolve this problem during mounting of the second bead, make sure that the entire section of the tyre
between the fixed arm and the rotating arm of the PT is correctly positioned within the rim well.
Operators must also be reminded that any excessive pressure applied during this stage can cause slippage
problems therefore the correct height of the PT working arm must be observed.
IMPORTANT. When using the bead pressing disc, never apply excessive pressure, or in any case, pressure which
could cause deformation of the surface of the tread.
11- Continue to rotate until the second bead has been mounted, checking that the edge guard remains positioned in line with the traction point.
The PT is equipped with a mechanical system which will automatically and gradually reduce the pressure applied by the bead breaker disc
during rotation. This is to prevent any damage to the tyre.
12- Lift the PT arms, turn the fixed bead pressing tool arm upwards, move the bead pressing tool and the vertical column away from the
working position.
13- Release the rim from the turntable and carry out the beading and inflation of the tyre observing all relevant legislation.
If you are working on Run Flat, UHP or low profile tyres mounted on large wheels, the procedure for mounting the second bead is slightly
different and is as follows:
After mounting the first bead in the normal way:
1- Place the valve at approximately 6 o'clock.
2- Place the PT arm in a working position with the bead breaker disc on its end stroke.
3- Release the fixed bead pressing tool arm, removing the specific pin (Fig. W/16), turn it to the work position and relock it with the pin
(Fig. W/17).
4- Adjust the position of the bead pressing disc according to the rim diameter.
5- Using the knob, adjust the distance between the disc and the head; this distance must
be reduced to a minimum.
6- Place the edge guard at approximately 5 o'clock in line with the traction point.
7- Lower the PT arms until the tyre bead is placed at the same height as the well.
8- Fit the large MPG clamp near the fixed arm (see Fig. Y/1).
9- Start turning the turntable and at the same time manually accompany the moving arm
as it rotates making sure that the plastic guard protecting the bead remains in line with
the traction point (see Fig. Y/2).
10- Continue turning until the second bead has been completely mounted.
