STARTING THE ENGINE
Only start the engine when standing behind of the mower.
Place the mower on a level surface where the grass is not too high (high grass inhibits the start of the cutter bar and makes
starting more difficult). Where this is not possible, position the mower in such a way that the cutter is facing diagonally away
from the user, although only as far as absolutely necessary.
Manual start without electro-start (Figure D + E )
–
Push and hold the safety control bar (1) on the top tube (2) D .
Slowly pull the starter cable (3) until resistance is felt, then rapidly pull it out E – the engine begins to run, slowly recoil
–
the cable.
The engine runs with optimum power at maximum speed, which is required for a clean cutting pattern (engine speed = blade
speed).
CAUTION
Hold the starter cable handle firmly when starting. The handle may otherwise slip out of your hand. Risk of injury!
Electro-start models (Figure D + P4 + E )
–
Push and hold the safety control bar (1) on the top tube (2) D .
Turn the ignition key (4) clockwise up to the limit stop, for so long until the engine starts running P4 .
–
NOTE
To ensure a long service life of the battery and starter, the starting process should never be longer than 5 seconds.
The engine runs with optimum power at maximum speed, which is required for a clean cutting pattern (engine speed = blade
speed).
NOTE
Should the electric starter be defective at some point, then the engine can also be started manually.
–
Push and hold the safety control bar (1) on the top tube (2) D .
–
Slowly pull the starter cable (3) until resistance is felt; then rapidly pull it out E – the engine begins to run, slowly recoil
the cable.
CAUTION
Hold the starter cable handle firmly when starting. The handle may otherwise slip out of your hand. Risk of injury!
IMPORTANT
The motor only operates when the safety control bracket is pressed against the upper part of the handlebar. As
soon as the safety control bracket is released, this returns to its original position under spring force, the motor
brake is actuated, and the motor and blade come to stop within three seconds.
10 SWITCHING OFF THE ENGINE (Illustration F + P4 )
–
Release the safety control bar (1) F .
Remove the ignition key (4) (only for electro-start) P4 .
