If you prepare coffee in the thermos jug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. Prepare the coffee machine for brewing
coffee with coffee beans or coffee powder.
2. Select the number of cups, the coffee
strength and brewing time if required.
3. Switch off the hotplate with the
(28), the symbol in the display goes out.
4. Press Start to brew with coffee powder or
coffee beans.
5. At the end of the brewing time, the appli-
ance switches off automatically.
ATTENTION
► Although the hotplate function is
switched off, the base of the thermos jug
is kept warm during the brewing process.
Therefore, put the thermos jug onto a heat-
resistant base to avoid damaging the
table, table cloth etc.
If you prepare coffee in the glass jug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. Prepare the coffee machine for brewing
coffee with coffee beans or coffee powder.
2. Select the number of cups, the coffee
strength and brewing time if required.
3. Switch on the hotplate with the
(28), the symbol lights up in the display.
4. Press Start to brew with coffee powder or
coffee beans.
5. The hotplate function remains switched
on after brewing and keeps the coffee warm
unless you switch off the appliance. Other-
wise the appliance switches itself off auto-
matically after 20 minutes. The base of the
glass jug becomes hot. Place the glass jug

Removing/replacing the lid

To remove the lid, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the lid anticlockwise. The lid can
now be removed (image B1).
To fit the lid, proceed as follows:
1. Place the lid onto the jug so that the re-
lease lever is pointing to the right.

2. Turn the lid clockwise until it stops. The
lid is now closed.
To pour coffee, proceed as follows:
1. Press and hold down the release lever in
order to pour out the the contents of the ther-
mos jug (image B2).
NOTE
► We recommend preheating the
thermos jug with hot water before use.
Drip-stop (8)
When the appliance is in operation, the
‹
filter compartment must be closed and the
thermos or glass jug must be standing prop-
erly with the lid under the filter compartment.
The lid pushes the drip-stop (8) upwards and
the coffee can flow from the filter into the jug.
The drip-stop prevents water from leak-
‹
ing out of the filter when the thermos or glass
jug is removed from the appliance. During the
brewing process however, the thermos or
glass jug should not be removed from the
appliance for more than 30 seconds, other-
wise the filter will fill up and the coffee will
overflow.
Requirements for
aromatic coffee
If possible, use freshly ground coffee
‹
powder to assure optimum flavour.
Experiment with the amount of coffee
‹
powder until you find the flavour you prefer.
Try various different levels of grinding
‹
fineness for the coffee powder. The grinding
fineness for the coffee powder influences the
aroma of the coffee.
Clean and descale the appliance at regu-
‹
lar intervals. A dirty and/or scaled appliance
impairs the aroma.

Brewing coffee with coffee beans

1. Activate the display lighting by pressing
any key.
2. Fill the water tank with water according to
the desired number of cups as described in
the section Filling with water (page 18).
