3.4. Checking the fuel level
Danger
Check the fuel level on the level indicator (diag. A – no. 2). If necessary, fill with fuel:
Unscrew the fuel tank plug (diag. D - no. 3).
Fill the fuel tank (diag. D - no. 1) using a funnel until "F" is displayed on the fuel level indicator, taking care not to spill any fuel.
Use only clean fuel, free from water.
Do not overfill the tank (there should not be any fuel in the filler neck).
After filling, always ensure that the filler cap is properly tightened.
If any fuel has been spilt, make sure that it has dried and that any vapours have cleared before starting up the
Important
generating set.
Screw the fuel filler cap back onto the fuel tank.
3.5. Checking the starter battery
Never leave the battery close to a flame or fire
Use only insulated tools
Never use sulphuric acid or acid water to top up the electrolyte level.
Danger
Check that the "-" connector for the starter battery (diag. A - no. 10) is correctly connected to the circuit.
4. Using the generator set
Before use:
- make sure you know how to stop the generating set in the event of an emergency,
- make sure you completely understand all the controls and operations.
Warning
To stop the generating set urgently, place the engine switch on "OFF" or " ".
4.1. Starting procedure
Open the fuel tap (diag. D – no. 6).
Turn the on/off key (diag. B - no. 1) clockwise to position (C) and hold it in this position until the engine starts.
When the engine has started, release the key.
Note: Do not operate the electric starter for more than 10 seconds. If the engine does not start, release the key and wait 15
seconds before trying again.
EMERGENCY STARTING
If the electric starter fails, the engine may still be started manually, as described below:
Open the fuel tap (diag. D – no. 6).
Turn the on/off key (diag. B - no. 1) clockwise until it reaches position (B).
Slowly pull the starter-recoil reel handle (diag. B – no. 2) once, until there is some resistance then let it return gently.
Press down decompression lever (diag. D - no. 7) then return it to its initial position.
Then pull the starter-recoil reel handle (diag. B – no. 2) sharply and rapidly, until the engine starts.
4.2. Operation
When the generating set speed has stabilised (approximately 3 minutes):
Check that the green button on the circuit breaker (diag. A - no. 11) is depressed. Push it in if necessary.
Connect the equipment to be used to the generating set electrical sockets (diag. A – no. 9).
4.3. Switching off
Disconnect the electric sockets (diag. A - no. 9) to allow the engine to run with no load for 1 or 2 minutes.
Place the on/off key (diag. B - no. 1) in position (A): the generating set will stop.
Close the fuel tap (diag. D – no. 6).
Always ensure that the generating set is suitably ventilated.
Even when the unit is turned off, the engine continues to give off heat.
Warning
The fuel fill must be performed with the engine off, and in line with the safety instructions
(see Filling with fuel section).
