With the direction keys " ", " ", " ", and " " on the remote control the desired option may be chosen
and confirmed by pressing the key "SELECT/ENTER" (in the centre of the direction keys). For controlling
you may also use the four direction keys at the front of the DVD-receiver; for confirming the selected point
press the key "SELECT/ENTER" which is positioned next to the direction keys.
The setting "PREFERENCES", however is only possible when the DVD-receiver is in the "Stop"
mode: In the "Stop" mode the display "DVD Video" is shown in large letters on the screen,
when the DVD is running press the key "
DVD-receiver first.
a) "GENERAL SETUP"
• "TV-DISPLAY"
There are three different settings possible:
"NORMAL/PS": "PS" is short for "Pan & Scan". The picture in shown larger but on either side the image is
cut This effect, however, occurs only with films in the format 16:9/Widescreen.
NORMAL/LB":
"LB" is short for "Letterbox". This is the normal setting for all films. 16:9/Widescreen films
are shown in complete width on a regular 4:3-TV, above and under the film the unavoid-
able large black bar is visible.
"WIDE":
If your TV is in the 16:9-format you should select this setting. Regular 4:3-TVs show the
picture distorted as the black bar above and under the film is missing.
• "TV-TYPE"
Select the standard of your TV, usually this is "PAL":
"MULTI":
Multimode-TVs recognise the different TV-standards (PAL/NTSC/...) automatically and
are able to reproduce them
"NTSC":
TV-standard which is e.g. used in America (60 frames/s)
"PAL":
TV-standard usually used in Europe (50 frames/s). If in doubt select this setting.
• "PIC-MODE"
Two different ways of playback can be selected, these may be favourable with some films when showing
motion or small details. In any other case the setting should remain "AUTO".
"AUTO":
Automatic selection of the way of playback.
"HI-RES":
"High-Resolution"-Mode
"N-FLICKER":
"Non-flicker"-Mode
• "ANGLE MARK"
This option may be switched on or off, if switched on a fade-in is shown in scenes with various angles of
view.
• "OSD LANG"
Select the desired language of the OSD (On-Screen-Display). When this operating manual was written the
languages "English", "Spanish", "German" and "French" were available.
• "CAPTIONS"
With some DVDs the subtitles (e.g. additional information for deaf persons) are directly faded into the pic-
ture (not subtitles!). Via this function they can be activated or deactivated, however this is only possible if
the relevant DVD supports this function.
• "SCR SAVER"
Here you may switch on or off the screen saver. If this function is activated the menu is automatically fad-
ed out after a short period of time and is substituted by a moving graphic which prevents the letters of the
set-up from "burning" into the screen.

Activez ou désactivez ici l'économiseur d'écran. Quand celui-ci est affiché, le menu Setup est mis auto-
matiquement en veilleuse après un court laps de temps et remplacé par un graphique en mouvement ce
qui empêche que les caractères de l'affichage Setup ne se « gravent » sur l'écran.
b) "SPEAKER SETUP"
• "DOWNMIX"
Sélectionnez entre "STEREO" et "5.1CH". En mode "STEREO" le signal audio 5.1 du DVD est convertit de
manière à ce qu'il ne parvienne qu'aux deux haut-parleurs frontaux. Ceci peut être utile par ex. si vous
n'avez pas branché de haut-parleurs à l'ampli tuner DVD et que vous utilisez la sortie AV.
• "TEST TONE"
Cette option n'est sélectionnable que quand vous avez activé le réglage "5.1CH" dans "DOWNMIX".
Si vous sélectionnez (activez) l'option "ON", un grésillement se fait entendre sur chacun des 5 haut-par-
leurs satellites l'un après l'autre. Dans le meilleur cas, il est possible d'entendre ce bruit de manière dis-
tincte.
En outre vous pouvez contrôler à l'aide de l'affichage sur l'écran si vous avez correctement placé les
haut-parleurs (et vérifier que vous n'avez pas, par ex. confondu les deux haut-parleurs arrières).
• "DOLBY CONF."
Cette option n'est sélectionnable que quand vous avez activé le réglage "5.1CH" dans "DOWNMIX".
"CONFIG1": Les graves sont reproduits par un Subwoofer connecté. Si vous utilisez le set de haut-par-
leurs joint, sélectionnez ce réglage.
"CONFIG2": Les graves sont reproduits par les haut-parleurs frontaux. Ceci n'est à recommander que si
les deux haut-parleurs frontaux sont suffisamment grands et appropriés pour les sons
graves, par ex. si vous utilisez comme HP frontaux, vos baffles « normaux » à la place de
ceux livrés.
• "CNTR DELAY"
Cette option n'est sélectionnable que quand vous avez activé le réglage "5.1CH" dans "DOWNMIX".
Suivant la distance entre le HP central "CENTER" et l'auditeur, vous pouvez sélectionner une temporisa-
tion ("DELAY") dans ce menu (de 1 ms à 5 ms; ms sont des millisecondes) ou désactiver la temporisation
(0 ms).
• "REAR DELAY"
Cette option n'est sélectionnable que quand vous avez activé le réglage "5.1CH" dans "DOWNMIX".
Suivant la distance entre les haut-parleurs arrière "REAR" et l'auditeur, vous pouvez sélectionner une
temporisation ("DELAY") dans ce menu (de 3 ms à 15 ms; ms sont des millisecondes) ou désactiver la
temporisation (0 ms).
c) "AUDIO SETUP"
• "AUDIO OUT"
"ANALOG":
les signaux audio sont sortis en mode analogique.
"SPDIF RAW": les signaux audio sont sortis sur la sortie numérique comme ils arrivent du DVD/CD (pour
les DVD en mode 5.1 pour ampli numérique 5.1).
"SPDIF/PCM": Les signaux audio sont sortis en signaux PCM (seulement un son stéréo sur le signal
numérique, pas de son 5.1!). Ceci est idéal pour les anciens amplis avec entrée numérique
mais sans décodeur numérique 5.1 intégré.
