Important to know when charging/discharging a lithium battery pack via the balancer:
Multi-cell lithium battery packs usually always have a balancer connector. This enables the charger to monitor the
voltage of each individual cell separately.
The charger unit puts the voltage of all cells in balance to each other in case of any deviations. Thus the balancer
prevents a situation where one or more cells are overcharged and other cells are not charged fully enough. In other
words, the balancer protects against both the overcharge (which can result in a fire or explosion) and the deep
discharge of a single cell and thereby ensures the optimum performance of the battery pack in your model.
How to connect a battery pack to the charger:
1. First connect the charging cable to the two 4 mm round pin sockets on the charging output (5). Observe the
correct polarity (red wire = plus/+, black wire = minus/-).
The charging cable is not yet connected to the battery!
The provided connection cables feature special safety round pin plugs to prevent a short circuit.
However, if you use charging cables that you make yourself without such safety plugs, you are risking a
short circuit due to the round plug of the charging cable and thus fire and explosion!
2. If you want to connect a multi-cell lithium battery to the charger, you can make use of the provided balancer
board to connect to the battery's balancer port. Connect the balancer board via the provided connection cable to
the corresponding socket (7) on the charger.
3. Now connect the charging cable to the battery. Observe the correct polarity (red wire = plus/+, black wire =
minus/-).
4. If the lithium battery has a balancer, connect it to the appropriate port on the balancer board. It is imperative
to ensure that socket and plug on balancer board and battery have a matching shape. Do not use force when
plugging the connector in!
