up to 3 digits after the decimal point. The ME-32 can be used by
hobbyists and in industrial applications (to a limited extent) or in
schools etc.

3. Safety Instructions

• CE Mark: Digital Multimeter ME-32 has been EMC tested and
meets the requirements of EC Directive 89/336/EEC; it has also
been safety tested and meets the requirements of Low-voltage
Directive 73/23/EEC.
• This appliance was manufactured and tested in accordance
with DIN 57 411 Part 1/VDE 0411 Part 1 (Protective measures
for electronic measuring equipment) and left our factory in a
perfectly safe condition. To keep it in this condition, the user
must
observe
the
safety
("Warning!" and "Important!") contained in these operating
instructions. The following symbols must be noted:
= Warning! Dangerous contact voltages! Risk of fatal
injury!
= Please read operating instructions
CAT II = Overvoltage Category II
= Class of protection II
• Current must only be measured in circuits that have 16 A fuse
protection and/or where no voltage in excess of 250 V DC/AC
rms or power in excess of 4000 VA can occur. The multimeter
must not be used in installations of Overvoltage Category III
according to IEC 664. The multimeter and measuring leads are
not protected against explosion caused by arcing (IEC 1010-2-
031, Sub-clause 13.101).

instructions
and
warnings
• Measuring appliances and accessories are not toys and must be
kept away from children!
• On commercial premises, the accident prevention regulations
of the Association of Industrial Professional Associations with
respect to electrical systems and operating equipment must be
observed.
• In schools, training centres and DIY workshops, the handling
of measuring appliances must be responsibly supervised by
trained personnel.
• Opening covers or removing parts can lead to live parts being
exposed, unless this can be performed manually. Connection
points can also be live. Before being balanced, serviced or
repaired or having any parts or componentry replaced, if the
appliance must be opened, it must first be isolated from any
source of voltage or voltage circuits. If, subsequently, it is abso-
lutely necessary to balance, service or repair the open appli-
ance while live, this must be carried out only by a qualified
technician familiar with the risks involved and the relevant
regulations (VDE 0100, VDE 0701, VDE 0683).
• Capacitors inside the appliance may still be charged even after
the appliance has been isolated from all sources of voltage and
voltage circuits.
• Make sure that only fuses of the specified type and specified
current rating are used as a replacement fuse. The use of re-
wired fuses or shorting out the fuse holder is not permissible.
To replace the fuse, isolate the appliance from the measuring
circuit and switch it off. Remove all connected leads and test
probes. Use a suitable screwdriver for recessed-head screws
and open the housing carefully. Remove the defective fuse(s)
and replace it/them by a fuse(s) of the same type and current
rating.
