5. Putting into operation
§
Position the device so that there are no obstructions to ventilation. Do not
connect the accumulator yet. Now connect the charger to the 230V a.c. mains
supply.
§
Switch the charger on.
§
When the set has been turned on, the green mains LED lights up. None of the
other LEDs light up with open connecting sockets.
§
Setting the operating elements
§
All charger settings have to be made before connecting the accumulator.
Altering the settings during charging leads to incorrect measurements or to
the premature termination of charging.
§
The left rotary switch (cell selection) is used for adjusting the number of cells
in the accumulator pack.
§
With NiCd and NiMH accumulators, the typical nominal voltage of the
individual cells is 1.2V.
Example:
An accumulator pack of 6 cells (6 x 1.2V = 7.2V nominal voltage) is to be
charged.
If only the nominal voltage of the accumulator pack is known, you obtain
the number of cells by dividing the nominal voltage by 1.2V/cell (7.2V :
1.2V/cell = 6 cells).
So please set the cell selection switch to 6 cells, please be careful to
select the right setting.
If the setting is incorrect, the device will display an error after some time,
or the accumulator will not be charged completely.
