b) Current measurement „A"
Never exceed the maximum permissible input values. Do not touch any
circuitry or connection points when voltages exceeding 33 V/ACrms or 70 V/
DC might be applied. Risk of fatal injury!
The maximum permissible voltage in the circuit against ground potential may
not exceed 1000 V in CAT II or 600 V in CAT III.
for your own safety, observe all relevant safety instructions, regulations and
safety measures.
The multimeter features a folding current clamp (2) for non-contact current measurement. The
sensors in the clamp detect the magnetic field surrounded by the live conductors. Measure-
ment of insulated as well as non-insulated conductors and rails is permissible. Make sure that
the conductor always passes through the middle of the clamp (observe arrow markings).
Only ever clamp one cable at a time. If you clamp the supply and return conductors
(i.e. L and N or positive and negative), the currents will cancel one another out and you
will not get a measurement. If you clamp more than one outer cable (i.e. L1 and L2 or
positive conductor 1 and positive conductor 2), the currents will add up.
A cable selector (1) is located at the tip of the clamp so you
can conveniently isolate and clamp individual conductors
from a cable harness.
In case of low currents, you may coil a conductor around
one arm of the clamp several times. Then divide the
measuring result by the number of coils to receive the
correct current value.
