Replacing a sanding belt
Only when the power supply is switched off! If the sanding belt is worn out, replace it using the following steps:
Loosen the three screws with cross recesses which hold the side cover and take the cover off (3).
Loosen up the sanding belt tension using the sanding belt tension screw (2) and adjusting button for the sanding belt guide
(1).
Replace the sanding belt. Usually medium grain is adequate (K80). Rough grain is recommended for rough sanding and fine
grain for fine sanding.
Once the sanding belt is replaced, adjust the belt tension and the guide.

Sanding belt tension and guide
The tension of the sanding belt is adjusted by the sanding belt tension screw (2). The guide is adjusted using the adjusting button
for the sanding belt guide (1) so that the belt runs centrically on the rollers.
Choosing the right grinding wheel
It is a standard practice that dual grinders are equipped with two different grinding wheels made of standard corundum. These
wheels can be used for most types of sharpening work - axe and screwdriver sharpening. For other work, in particular for sharpening
scissors, knives and drill bits, and for hardened steel working you must choose a suitable grinding wheel following the table below.
Please bear in mind that there is no universal grinding wheel which would be suitable for all types of work, and that the results of
your work depend on the selection of the right grinding wheel.
Wear and tear of the grinding wheel
Wear and tear of grinding wheels is quite natural over a period of time. The tool support and protective metal for further adjustments
should be regularly adjusted in order to comply with prescribed dimensions.
Once a minimal diameter of a grinding wheel is reached, no additional adjustment is purposeful and the grinding wheel must be
replaced. The following minimal diameters are applicable (ø = mm).

Replacing a grinding wheel0 (Pic. 5)
Take off the old grinding wheel, see Picture. Make sure that the screw on the left hand side (4) has a left-hand thread, so to loosen it up
you must screw it to the right (clockwise). Please do not interchange the two screws otherwise you could damage the thread in the rotor
shaft.
Checking the grinding wheel (Pic. 6)
Before the assembly of new grinding wheels it is necessary to carry out a visual and sound check of the wheels for any potential cracks.
For the sound test let the grinding wheel hang loosely on a thread and bang it lightly with a screwdriver handle or with a similar (non-
metal) object. If the sound is dull and damped, the grinding wheel is damaged and should not be used. The new grinding wheel should
be easy to slide onto the engine flange. Using force or hammering it in is not admissible, nor is drilling of a small attachment opening as
breaking might occur.
b) The assembly of a new grinding wheel in the reverse order.
After the assembly of new grinding wheels, there should be a free load trial run for about 5 minutes. It is important to ensure compliance
with safety instructions.
