12.4 DeviceNet
DeviceNet is a field bus system based on the CAN specification (Controller Area Network).
The connection is made by a hybrid cable for voltage supply and data transmission
(pursuant to RS-485). There are two standardized cable types:
Trunk cable
Drop cable with smaller cable sections
The trunk cable is terminated with resistors on either end; the drop cables do not require
any bus termination.
No more than 64 components, incl. master, can be connected.
The maximum cable length without repeater depends on the transmission rate:

12.5 Hiperface
Hiperface means "High Performance Interface" and is a standard interface for motor
feedback systems by SICK STEGMANN.
This interface was specifically developed for the requirements of digital drive control and
offers the user consistent and simplified mechanical and electrical interfaces.
Electrical drives require the following information from the corresponding signaling devices
in the control circuit, depending on design and application:
Position information incremental
Position information via several turns absolute
All of this information can be transmitted via Hiperface.
For this, Hiperface contains a hybrid interface of:
Analog process data channel (sine-/cosine signals) and
Bidirectional parameter channel (RS-485) for transfer of absolute position and different
parameters.
