4.3 Voltage measurement

Take into account unexpected volt-
ages at measuring objects. For in-
stance, capacitors may be danger-
ously charged even if the voltage
source is switched off.
With this meter you must not carry out
measurements in current circuits with
corona discharges (high voltage).
Danger of life!
The voltage max. to be measured
must not exceed 600 V /~. Other-
wise there is danger of life!
1) Connect the red test lead to the red
jack "V" (5) and the black test lead to
the black jack "COM" (6).
2) For AC voltages, set the range switch
(8) to position "600 V~" (display
"ACV"), for DC voltages to position
"600 V " (display "DCV").
3) Hold the test tips to the correspond-
ing measuring points, and read the
measuring value from the display.
4) In case of AC voltage meas-
urements with a measuring value be-
low 200 V, switch from the 600 V
range to the 200 V range. When ex-
ceeding the 200 V range, the display
signalizes "OL". Then switch back to
the 600 V range.
5) In case of DC voltage meas-
urements with the negative pole at
the red test tip and the positive pole
at the black test tip, the displayed
measuring value is preceded by a
minus sign.

4.4 Resistance measurement and

continuity test

The meter is overload-protected up
to 600 V /~. In spite of this do not
measure within a circuit if it carries
voltage!
A resistor should always be measured
separately, otherwise the measure-
ment will be inaccurate. If necessary,
it must be soldered out of the circuit.
1) Connect the red test lead to the yel-
low jack "+" (10) and the black test
lead to the black jack "COM" (6).
2) Set the range switch (8) to position
2kΩ. The display shows "kΩ".
3) Hold the test tips at the resistor or
corresponding measuring points, and
read the measuring value on the dis-
play. If the value is below 30 Ω, the
continuity buzzer sounds and the
symbol
is displayed.
4) If the display signalizes "OL", switch
to the 200 kΩ range. If "OL" is still dis-
played, the measuring object has an
interruption or the resistance value is
above 199.9 kΩ.

4.5 Forward voltage of diodes

The meter is overload-protected up
to 600 V /~. In spite of this do not
measure within a circuit if it carries
voltage!
A diode should always be measured
separately, otherwise the measure-
ment will be inaccurate. If necessary,
it must be soldered out of the circuit.
1) Connect the red test lead to the yel-
low jack "+" (10) and the black test
lead to the black jack "COM" (6).
2) Set the range switch (8) to position
. The symbol
3) Hold the cathode of the diode to the
black test tip and the anode to the red
test tip.
4) The display shows the forward volt-
age up to 1.999 V with a test current
of approx. 1 mA. In case of silicon di-
odes the value is around 0.7 V.
With a display of approx. 0 V the di-
ode has a short-circuit. In addition,
the continuity buzzer will sound.
With the display "OL" the diode is in-
terrupted, connected in locking direc-
tion (reverse the polarity of the
diode), or the forward voltage ex-
ceeds 1.999 V.

4.6 Frequency measurement

The voltage max. to be measured
must not exceed 600 V~. Otherwise
there is danger of life!
1) Connect the red test lead to the yel-
low jack "+" (10) and the black test
lead to the black jack "COM" (6).
2) Set the range switch (8) to position
"Hz". The display shows "kHz".
GB
is displayed.
