The WELDINGER MEW 161 SYN eco is a portable, single-phase (230 V), air-cooled MIG/MAG
welding inverter for MIG/MAG, Lift TIG and manual electrode welding. Standard use is 1 kg
rolls (D100) of inert gas welding wire and flux cored wire with 0.6/0.8/0.9 mm diameter,
tungsten electrodes or rutile stick electrodes. In MIG/MAG mode, welding is synergic. The
unit has a detachable MAG welding torch type MB 150, as well as an electrode holder cable
and a ground cable. A matching TIG hose package with external gas guide is available
separately. Its simple operation makes the MEW 160 mini FLUX a versatile welder for DIY
use.
Functionality
The primary switched inverter is the heart of the unit. It rectifies the mains voltage. The
fast IGBT transistor switches chop this DC voltage into an AC voltage with a very high
frequency, which in turn is rectified by corresponding diodes to the final welding current.
Welding functions and control for the welding current are stored in an MCU chip.
