range).
Do not move or tilt the appliance with the cooking pot filled and inserted in the
appliance, to avoid spilling and overflow. Always switch OFF (holding the STOP/
CANCEL button pressed for 2 seconds), and unplug the appliance, when it is not
in use. Always let the appliance cool down sufficiently before moving, cleaning, or
for storage. Always grasp the appliance by the handles for moving or lifting. Do not
hold the appliance by the power cord, lid or lid knob for moving the appliance.
Before starting operation, always ensure that the cooking pot is inserted correctly
and the lid is assembled properly according to the instructions in this booklet.
Do not exceed the maximum filling levels given in this booklet,
cially when heating food that expands during cooking and/or could froth or vigo-
rously splash. Otherwise, hot liquids and foods could overflow or drip on the appli-
ance, or—as with all pressure cookers—the valves (pressure release valve, pressure
safety valve) could get clogged, leading to overheating and bursting, thus causing
severe injuries and damage due to hot steam and liquid escaping explosively.
Before placing the cooking pot into the heating compartment ensure that the
exterior of the cooking pot as well as the heating plate and temperature probe (in
the heating compartment) are clean and dry. Wipe off any spilled food and liquids
with a dry soft cloth.
The surfaces of the appliance are hot during operation and thereafter. Only
touch the appliance by the handles and operating elements, when still hot. To pre-
vent burns and scalds, always protect your hands and arms with oven gloves, when
touching hot surfaces (e.g. lid, cooking pot, steaming tray, or trivet). Do not place
the hot cooking pot, steaming tray, or trivet on surfaces sensitive to heat, fat, and/
or moisture.
Do not immerse the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquid. Do not
spill or drip any liquids on the appliance, in the oven compartment, or on the power
cord to avoid risk of fire and electric shock. When liquids are spilled in the heating
compartment, immediately switch OFF (hold the STOP/CANCEL button pressed for
2 seconds), unplug the power cord and wait for the appliance to cool down. There-
after, clean and dry the appliance thoroughly. (See: 'Care and Cleaning')
Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal cleaning pads for cleaning. Do not clean
the appliance with any corrosive chemicals (e.g. bleach). DO NOT place the
appliance or power cord in an automatic dishwasher.
Do not leave any food dry on the appliance. Always clean the appliance after
each use to prevent a build up of baked-on foods (see 'Care and Cleaning'). Always
keep the appliance and all parts and accessories clean.
