Installing the guide rail and saw chain
Important
Before starting any work on the guide rail and saw
chain, switch off the engine and put on protective
gloves.
1. Unscrew the fastening nut (13-1) and take off the
cover (13-2).
2. Turn the chain tensioning screw (13-3) anticlockwise
until the chain tensioning pin (13-4) is at the rear end
of the thread.
3. Place the saw chain into the guide slot running
around the outside of the guide rail (14).
Make sure that the running direction of the chain links
(16) is correct.
4. Put on the guide rail. The chain tensioning pin (15-1)
must engage in the corresponding chain tensioning
hole in the guide rail.
5. During installation, make sure that the chain links are
correctly located in the guide slot and on the chain
sprocket.
6. Reattach the cover (13-2) and tighten the fastening
nut (13-1) until finger-tight.
7. Tension the saw chain as described in the section

2. Lift the tip of the guide rail slightly and turn the chain
tensioning screw (13-3) clockwise until the correct
chain tension is achieved.
3. The saw chain has been tensioned correctly when it
can be lifted by approx. 3 - 4 mm in the middle of the
guide rail (16).
4. Turn the chain tensioning screw anticlockwise if the
saw chain tension is too high.
