Personal Safety Equipment

▪ War safety goggles and ear protection. Other protective
equipment for the head, hands, legs and feet is recommend-
ed. Suitable protective clothing reduces the risk of injury from
flying chip material and accidental contact with the saw chain.

Kickback

▪ A kickback is the result of wrong or incorrect use of the power
tool. It can be prevented by appropriate precautions, as
described below:
- Hold the saw in both hands with your thumb and fingers
around the chain saw handles. Bring your body and arms into
a position where you can withstand the kickback forces. If
appropriate measures are taken, the operator can control the
kickback forces. Never let go of the chain saw. Always hold
the chain saw with your right hand on the rear handle and
your left hand on the front handle. Holding the chain saw in
reverse working posture increases the risk of injury and must
not be used.
- Avoid abnormal posture and do not saw above shoulder
height. This avoids unintentional contact with the rail tip and
allows for better control of the chain saw in unexpected
situations.
- Always use replacement guide bars and chains specified by
the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement guide bars and saw
chains can cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
- Follow the instructions for sharpening and maintaining the
saw chain. Too low depth limiters increase the tendency to
kickback.
- Never touch the wood with the tip of the guide bar or saw
