Before first Use

Remove all packaging material from the iron. Do not leave packaging material
lying around. Plastic bags may become a deadly toy for children.
Clean all parts of the iron before using the first time, as described below under
"Cleaning and Storing" on page 10.
According to factory-made functional tests, residual humidity can remain in the
water tank. Residual humidity in a new article is not a fault.
Before operating the iron for the first time use the self cleaning function. With this
cleaning function you remove all residues out of the heating system.

Self Cleaning Function

1. Open the water inlet lid (2).
2. Use the included cup and fill the water tank only up to the MAX mark. Do
not overfill the tank. Do not use chemically decalcified water but use distilled
water and tap water in equal parts.
3. Plug in the iron and set the temperature control dial (9) to the maximum
temperature. The indicator light (8) will light up.
4. Set the iron on its heel and wait until the light turns off, then the iron has
reached maximum temperature.
5. Point the sole in a safe direction and push the self cleaning button (10) and
the steam burst button (4) several times alternating to blow any debris out of
the steam vents. A burnt smell in the first moments of operation is not dan-
gerous and will disappear in a matter of moments.
6. Set the adjustable steam control lever (3) to maximum and iron an old cotton
cloth. After this all debris should be out of the steam system.

Filling and Operating

1. Always unplug before filling.
2. Make sure the temperature control dial (9) and the steam control lever (3) are
in the MIN position. Hold the iron upright while filling with water.
3. Fill the water tank only up to the MAX mark.
4. Connect the plug to a wall socket and adjust the temperature control dial (9)
to the desired temperature. Consult the hints on the clothing.
