Note: The USB tape player may show with a
different name to the examples above. This may
depends on your computer model and operating
system
6. Start the tape playing and adjust the input volume so that the
input level meter is as close to, without going over, 0 on the
mixer toolbar. If the mixer bars are not showing on the input
level meter click on the drop down arrow by the side of the
microphone icon and select monitor input.
If the level meter is not moving during playback,
check the cables, the tape, select monitor input
again in case it has been switched off instead of
on. Then if this doesn't work go back point 5 and
try another device selection to see if this is the
problem.
7. Set the tape to the start of the required recording point, press
the RECORD button
to start recording, and then start
playing the tape on the USB tape player.
Note: The recording will be done in real time.
8. Select the PAUSE
button to pause recording,
9. Select the STOP
button to stop recording.
10. Press the PLAY
button to play the file.
11. Select the
return to the start and the
end of the recording.
12. Further editing functions such as cropping length can be
done with the Audicity software, information regarding this
can be found under «Help» and «Contents»
13. When finished to save the file as a WAV, MP3 or Ogg
Vorbis file select «File» and «Export As» to which file format
you prefer. When doing this for the first time you will be

prompted to install the Lame MP3 encoder, this is file
«lame_enc.dll» which is also on the CD provided.
14. To save the file so that it can be edited later select «File»
from the toolbar and «Save Project»
