Connection to the CAM interface
For remote control of the extraction unit, only use the CAM
interface provided for this purpose.
In the case of CAM systems that only provide a switched
mains voltage, it is essential that a type F interface cable is
used.
If the extraction unit is very frequently switched on and off
using a power supply to the CAM system, this can damage
the electronics of the CAM system and of the extraction unit.
The electrical connection for communication with the CAM sys-
tem is provided via the interface connector (8) and an optional
interface cable (see Accessories) For assignment of the available
interface cable to the CAM system or preparation of your own
interface cable, see Chap 91 CAM interface
Confirm with your CAM manufacturer that the interface for
connecting the extraction unit comprises a limited-energy
circuit in accordance with IEC 61010-1.
Also observe the instructions for use of the CAM system
4.6
External air duct
The exhaust air can be transported out of the laboratory via an external air duct (see Accessories)
The corresponding installation instructions are included with the external air duct
When using extraction units in conjunction with an external air duct, a significant quantity of air
is extracted from the room per hour. This can lead to vacuum pressure, which can cause poison-
ous gases (e.g., carbon monoxide) to be sucked into the (working) area when using gas, liquid, or
solid fuels with furnaces dependent on ambient air.
Depending on the structural situation, an additional air supply or vacuum pressure monitor-
ing must therefore be ensured and checked where appropriate by the responsible institutions
(e.g., chimney sweep).

Operation
The extraction unit is controlled by the keys on the control panel (Fig 2)
5.1
Switching on
The extraction unit is switched on and off via the on / off
switch (3)
After switching on:
♦ The extraction unit performs automatic filter cleaning (for ap-
prox 8 seconds, loud vibrating noise), see Chap 53
Afterwards, the extraction unit is in the last operating mode set
5.2
Selecting the operating mode: CAM operation / continuous operation
The extraction unit has two operating modes
The set operating mode is indicated by the displays (20) / (22)
• CAM operation (20):
♦ The extraction unit responds to the control signals of the CAM system
• Continuous operation (22):
♦ The extraction unit is in continuous operation
⇒ Press the operating mode key (21)
♦ Switch the operating mode
The extraction unit is suitable for dry dust only!
When connecting to CAM systems with a wet / dry function, it is essential
to ensure that no residual moisture from the CAM system enters the ex-
traction unit.
Always check that the extraction unit is in proper working order before milling:
► Display for error notification (26, Fig. 2) is off.
► Suction turbine operates correctly without any particularly unusual noise or odor.
