Spool attachment

2. Insert the Allen key into the hole in the driver plate,
and screw the spool anticlockwise onto the guide pin
of the drive shaft.
3. Lock the driver plate with the Allen key in order to
tighten the spool.

Adjusting the shoulder strap
Important
Always use the shoulder strap during work. Start
the engine and let it run at idling speed before
hooking in the shoulder strap.
1. First pass the shoulder strap over your left shoulder.
2. Hook the locking hook into the eye (1-2).
3. Perform some sweeping movements to check the
length of the shoulder strap.
The spool attachment or cutting blade must move
parallel to the ground.

Installing the split shaft
1. Unscrew the locknut (9-1) and pull the split pin (9-2)
out a little.
2. Push the lower split shaft with the guard plate into the
upper split shaft – insert the spline shaft on the split
pin side. (9-3).
3. Release the split pin (10-1) again and secure the
lower split shaft using the locknut (10-2).
Removing the split shaft
1. Unscrew the locknut (9-1) and pull the split pin (9-2)
out a little.
2. Pull the lower split shaft with the guard plate out of the
upper split shaft (10-3).
The Multitool BC 3030 MT can be stored compactly.
Installing the split shaft extension on the polemounted
pruner and hedge trimmer attachment
1. Push the spline shaft of the split shaft extension into
the polemounted pruner or hedge trimmer attachment
(3-1, 4-1).
2. Insert the screw (3-2, 4-2) into the hole and tighten.

3. Tighten the tensioning screw (3-3, 4-3).

Installing the guide rail and saw chain
Important
Before starting any work on the guide rail and saw
chain, switch off the engine and put on protective
gloves.
1. Unscrew the fastening nut (13-1) and take off the
cover (13-2).
2. Turn the chain tensioning screw (13-3) anticlockwise
until the chain tensioning pin (13-4) is at the rear end
of the thread.
3. Place the saw chain into the guide slot running
around the outside of the guide rail (14).
Make sure that the running direction of the chain links
(16) is correct.
4. Put on the guide rail. The chain tensioning pin (15-1)
must engage in the corresponding chain tensioning
hole in the guide rail.
5. During installation, make sure that the chain links are
correctly located in the guide slot and on the chain
sprocket.
6. Reattach the cover (13-2) and tighten the fastening
7. Tension the saw chain as described in the section
"Tightening the saw chain"
Tightening the saw chain
1. Unscrew the fastening nut (13-1) by max. 1 turn.
2. Lift the tip of the guide rail slightly and turn the chain
tensioning screw (13-3) clockwise until the correct
chain tension is achieved.
3. The saw chain has been tensioned correctly when it
can be lifted by approx. 3 - 4 mm in the middle of the
guide rail (16).
4. Turn the chain tensioning screw anticlockwise if the
saw chain tension is too high.
5. Check whether the chain links are located correctly in
the guide slot of the guide rail.
6. Re-tighten the fastening nuts again.
