CARE AND CLEANING

WARNING: Always ensure that the appli-
ance is out of reach of young children.
Steam and hot water may escape from the
group head, steam wand, hot water outlet.
Handle with care to avoid scalds.
Always switch OFF the appliance (press
POWER button), then unplug the appliance,
and leave the appliance cool down, before
moving or cleaning the appliance. Do not
attempt to move the appliance or disassem-
ble any parts during operation.
Hygienic cleaning is done via the steps given
in the following instructions. Ensure to pro-
tect the base, power cord, and power plug
against splashing water and moisture. Do not
immerse the base, or power cord in water
or any other liquid, to avoid hazards due to
electric shock and damage. Do not spill or
drip any liquids on the base and power cord
to avoid risk of fire and electric shock. Do not
clean the appliance, or power cord, or any
of the parts or accessories in an automatic
dishwasher!
Do not use any violence. Do not use any
abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads (e.g.
metal scouring pads) for cleaning the appli-
ance or any parts of it, to avoid damage to
the surfaces.

THE CLEANING CYCLE

"CLEAN ME!" will be displayed on the LCD
display after 200 shots to indicate that a
cleaning cycle is required. The cleaning cycle
cleans the shower screen and back-flushes
the group head.
WARNING: During the cleaning cycle, hot
water and steam could escape from the por-
tafilter. Ensure to keep your hands and arms
in sufficient distance to avoid scalds.
1. Insert the supplied grey silicone cleaning
disc into the filter basket with the flap
facing upwards.
2. Place the filter basket into the portafilter,
followed by 1 cleaning tablet. Please use
Gastroback cleaning tablets (Art.-No.:
97830) Lock the portafilter into the group
head.
3. Ensure that the water tank is filled with

cold water and empty the drip tray.
4. Press the MENU button and rotate the
SELECT dial until "CLEAN CYCLE" and
"PUSH" are displayed on the LCD dis-
play.

5. Press the SELECT dial to start the clea-
ning cycle. The LCD display will show a
countdown timer showing the remaining
