Preparation for use

You can adjust various features of your bicycle for optimum
comfort and performance.
a) Measuring and adjusting the seat
height for the cyclist's body shape
-
Insert the seat post into the seat tube.
-
Adjust the height of the seat tube to the user's body
shape without going past the minimum insertion mark on
the seat tube. This insertion mark should never be visible
when the bicycle is in use.
Tip: To find the height of your seat, sit on the bicycle and place
one heel on the pedal in the low position (position B), with the
crank arm parallel to the seat post. When your leg is straight,
the seat height is correct.
b) Measuring
handlebar height for the cyclist's
body shape
Your bicycle is equipped with a quill stem; this system allows
you to adjust both the height and the inclination of the
handlebars.
To tighten the handlebars on the quill stem:
-
Loosen screws 1 and 2.
-
Tilt the handlebars to your preferred level, then tighten
screws 1 and 2 to keep the stem in the centre of the
handlebars.
To adjust the handlebar/wheel alignment:
-
Loosen screw 5.
-
Adjust the position of the handlebars in relation to the
wheel axis and then tighten screw 5 again. The stem must
be in line with the front wheel.
-
Tighten screw 5.
To adjust the height of the handlebars on the quill stem:
-
Loosen screw 5.
-
Slide the stem up or down into the forked tube
depending on the user's body shape without going past
the minimum insertion mark or until it stops. This
insertion mark should never be visible when the bicycle is
in use.
-
Tighten screw 5.
To adjust the inclination:
-
Loosen screws 4 and 3 that are keeping the handlebars
attached to the stem.
-
Tilt to the required position.
-
Tighten screw 3 then 4.
c) Brake operation and adjustment
Before each use, check that the front and rear brakes are in
perfect working order.
The front brake is operated by the left-hand brake lever.
The back brake is operated by the right-hand brake lever.
Brakes are a key element of cyclist safety. They must be
checked before each use and regularly maintained and
adjusted.
It is recommended that you distribute your braking force
approximately 60/40 between the front and rear.
