10.6.1 Protective measures to
prevent corrosion
For water with water hardness 0 °dH, plastic
pipes or corrosion-resistant pipes should be
laid.
With partial softening (approx. 8 °dH) galva-
nized and copper pipes can be used, how-
ever, installation of a mineral solution dosing
device downstream of the water softening
system in the mixing water pipe is recom-
mended.
The mineral solutions must contain those
substance components that stabilise the
remaining carbonate hardening compo-
nents and create the conditions for forma-
tion of a homogeneous protective layer in
the downstream pipe system. They must be
approved for use in drinking water in the
specified type, quality and quantity.
