Laboratory glassware and utensils

Wide neck items, e.g. glass beakers, wide neck Erlenmeyer flasks
and petri dishes, or cylindrical items, e.g. test tubes can be cleaned
and rinsed inside and out using rotating spray arms.
Arrange wide neck flasks with the open side facing downwards.
Laboratory glassware must not hinder the reprocessing of other
items and must not be flipped over by the force of water during the
programme. Secure light items with a cover net such as A 2 or re‐
process them in mesh trays with lids.
If laboratory glassware is placed with the open side facing up‐
wards, suds solution can collect in it. This can spill and impair
cleaning results in the washer-disinfector.
Use special inserts where necessary to reprocess laboratory glas‐
sware and utensils. Various inserts for different types of items are
available from Miele, for example:
Glass beakers and wide neck Erlenmeyer flasks can be reprocessed
in mesh trays, e.g. E 142, inserts, such as AK 12 or in a retaining
frame, e.g. A 11/1.
Alternatively inserts with spring hooks or rods can be used, e.g. E 106
or E 109.
Special quarter segment baskets in a variety of sizes, e.g. E 104/1
can be used to reprocess test tubes.
Special inserts are available such as E 136 for processing up to 56
petri dishes or E 402 for up to 44 watch glasses.
Reprocess small items such as stoppers, lids, spatulas, magnetic stir‐
ring rods etc. in mesh trays with lids, e.g. E 146. Alternatively a mesh
tray with a sufficiently large cover net could could be used.
